Saw this on the NW area meeting minutes:
There have been reports of hold chipping at Brownstones. The exact nature of
this is unclear. However, it was agreed that whilst cleaning of the tops at
Brownstones was generally useful, the chipping of holds or aggressive cleaning
was not acceptable. Any climbers who witnessed any chipping are asked to
make this clear to those responsible.
Anyone know anything about this? I was there a few weeks ago and didn't notice anything.

i herad off sam (possibly dewhurst) that it was som of the intermediates on hank's wall... not noticed anything else though...
-
Hmm... It didn't seem any different when I did it recently to when I first did it two years ago. The only intermediate is the tiny right hand crimp and it's still tiny.
-
i think it's some of the intermediate footholds, between the one just below the sidepull and the first high-stepping one.
-
Chipped footholds below the sidepull? I certainly haven't noticed any. Hopefully it's all just a rumour.

i don't think its a big chip, just something xchipped off, not really important. however i'll check the rest of the place to see if i can see anything...
