Title: Forum maintenance later today
Post by: ukb on September 23, 2011, 08:50:04 am
We have to take the forum offline later to upgrade the server OS. Hopefully it will only take 24 hours or so. Wish us luck ...

Are you going to update to the stable 2.0.*  (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?P=3949fbb4767b950400d1035384f47395&topic=437328.0) (first security patch already released! (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?P=3949fbb4767b950400d1035384f47395&topic=452888.0))

Out of pure curiosity what OS is the server running?

Something to do with penguins yet has a peculiar african sounding name  :-\

Forum upgrade will be a separate step.

We're implementing an LTS version of Ubuntu so we don't *have* to upgrade again and will be supported with security updates 'til 2015.

When I use the reply button the box extends off the right hand side of the screen so that if I keep typing it never justifies and then just disappears off into the matrix. It sorts itself out when I hit post but until then I have to add and then remove returns.

The quick reply box is fine though.

Whilst I'm moaning, is there any way we could have a show/ hide emoticons option in the above view? A lot of wasted screen space...

show/hide emoticons is one of the options under your profile (somewhere..). I have none...

We didnt have a ZX80 (dad nearly bought one) as we already had one of these:

Only just noticed its gone (as I wanted to use it) but there is no "Members" link across the top of the forum for searching/browsing registered members.

No big deal as I know who I'm looking for and how to PM them from a thread post which I'll readily identify, but a useful short cut to have available.

Try the "Forum" tab.

Ah ha, thanks for the pointer, off to get my eyes checked now.
