I still use the original gri gri. I have found it superior in (al)most all applications. I understand that the patent expired, but i imagine Petzl would still sell a bunch of them if offered.

Thought these videos were brilliant and should be watched by anyone who sport climbs or regularly uses a grigri. Obviously you should always have your hand on the brake rope but what was interesting was how quickly and easily it failed in situations that I suspect most sport climbers can relate to…
