Title: Wimberry/Dovestones parking
Post by: tomtom on May 28, 2020, 08:22:44 am
There were silly scenes there when I drove past about 7pm last night. Car park closed at the main road (full) and people parked all the main road for a good mile or more (despite the narrow road/nonovertaking lines). A lot busier than the normal boy racer/yoofs having a smoke car park scenes.

If you were planning a summer evenings bouldering there (despite greasy coarse sharp grit 😃) might be worth bearing that in mind.

Thanks for the update tomtom. That parking has been getting busier and busier over the last few years. I'm not sure why if has become so much more popular (apart from its very nice and easily accessible). Lots of people go for a picnic at the stream past the yacht club storage area. Unfortunately quite a lot of litter gets left too. Usually though if you go up to the boulders through the trees before the main gate it is quiet. People don't tend to get far away from the main drag around the reservoir.
