Bit of a random one, but was considering attaching a very rudimentary campus board to a tree up the garden. I live in a rented house so not looking to go to town on it. Anyone done anything similar? Is it bad form to drill into a living tree? Is it safe?

Provided you don't use copper nails you should be OK? Can you not use some static rope to hold it in place? Any useful branches?

have a look at treehouse building info on the web
general advice is to go for as few punctures as possible - one or 2 large coach bolts, not too close to each other

Ok, tree house angle is a good idea thanks.
Branches are in short supply. Was thinking very basic one board with rungs on. Will see what i can knock together...

surely it's pretty straightforward if you don't mind it being a bit wobbly
two legs, ply panel for face of board. two holes at top of board with a loop of rope back around the trunk of the tree to hold it at the desired angle, so it leans away from the tree.

if you don't mind it being a bit wobbly
Wasn't there a vid on here recently about someone having a board on ropes so it was super wobbly.

Shurt is it campusing in particular that you want to target or would something like a Bachar ladder meet enough of your goals to be worth considering?....It would be a lot easier to attach and remove when the time comes.

Pretty much what rodma suggested...
Mainly use it for foot on stuff but is still stable for proper campusing. Although if you want to use solely for campusing I'd make the starting rung higher than I have. I guess the higher you go the more wobbly it gets though

well thats exactly what I need to do. It looks like a washing board which only adds to its appeal!
