Title: Grit conditions
Post by: uptown on September 29, 2009, 07:33:48 pm
I'm struggling to get excited by (m)any topics on ukb at the mo, I know it's been a long summer for you gritstone heads, and so I invite some positivity for the first ideal conditions report of the year:
Up my way it'll be between 2 and 6 degrees! (http://www.metcheck.com/V40/UK/FREE/dayforecast.asp?zipcode=HG3%205AP&day=2)
Early morning bikeride on Thursday anyone? I know I'll be making the most of it with my present early morning wake-up calls.

Pretty cold here, first time i have felt cold and wet combination this year, wouldn't surprise me if rain was falling as a dusting of snow/sleet on hills.

Have been on nothing but grit (routes) for nearly a month now. Good conditions for roped stuff, though drizzle forced me indoors this eve.

I don't disagree with your sentiment, but that link is a) by metguess, b) only cold in the wind and c) during the hours of darkness.

More reliable info (http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/yh/yh_forecast_temp.html)

Just been out in similar, disappointing conditions. I'll not be parping my horn just yet.

metguess or office, it just gives me a sense JB - you know that us true 'heads' can feel it in our bones. The morning was good enough as I predicted and Hamidiya was bagged before work. I was pleased too - I'm working my weaknesses at the moment, a two metre roof today, then back on the slime tomo.
You can parp your horn whenever you see fit, I'm looking forward to catching up with you on the grit this season.

I think I can only parp my own horn   (   you should try it sometime  ;)   )   but I was out at Burbage West this evening, with a few others, and it seemed pretty good nick to me. Well I managed to improve on my own personal previous achievements, even if I didn't top anything out.

The moon was nearly full (tomorrow maybe?), and the sky was 99% clear. It was a nice cool crisp evening. A tiny breeze would have been beneficial, but would've made me somewhat more frozen (time to break out the downie I think).

Edit: Turns out the moon is full on Sunday.
