On the advice of all you spodding geeks i am now usin firefox.
Seems much better than IE in most respects, but I can't 'save target as'.
Must I wait for the whole ting to download and then save???
Ta.

save link as?
or jet the little download manager ting do its shit.
-
presumed save link as would save the link, rather than the target. maybe as simple as dat.
or jet the little download manager ting do its shit
Sorry, i don't speak Jive. Well I do, but not the yorkshire version. How?
Whilst on the subject, the 'quote selected' button don't work in FF either. It just sticks em both at the end. Kin useless.
-
pretty sure that "save link as" saves whatever the link is pointing to, i.e. in many cases that file in kwestion. try it and see what type of file it tries to save.
theres a BB code extension available for firefox (https://addons.update.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?application=firefox&version=1.0&os=Windows&numpg=10&id=128), its bo, you just right-click in forums and quote stuff, and paste in links/images etc from clipboard.
-
Yeah, you want the bbcode extension, the adblock extension (http://adblock.mozdev.org/), the tabbed browser extensions (http://piro.sakura.ne.jp/xul/tabextensions/index.html.en) and the download manager tweak (http://piro.sakura.ne.jp/xul/tabextensions/index.html.en)

...err thanks. Not sure how long it'll be before I know what they do, but i guess it's good to have these things :freak:
-
You'll grow to love 'em, believe me....
And I forgot one of the very best: super drag and go (http://superdragandgo.mozdev.org/)
It doesn't sound that useful but once you've got it you'll find yourself using it all the time.
-
Techy Note: Some of these extensions don't seem to work/install with the latest version of Firefox (1.0.1) I've just put FF on my work machine and got Superflydragandgo and Tabbedbrowshizzle working but adblock and various others don't work yet. If you want version 1.0 of Firefox its still available here (http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/1.0/win32/en-GB/)
-
You can get them to work by doing the following ( I had to do it to get adblock to work with FF 1.0.1)
- Type about:config into the address bar of the browser.
- Find the entry called extensions.lastAppVersion
- Double click it and change it to 1.0
-
That was weird, I tried that Bubba but it was set at 1.0 already. Got round it by saving the XPI files separately and then opening them from 'file', 'open'. For some reason the autoinstall thing is not working.
Meanwhile this Google Preview ting (https://addons.update.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?application=firefox&version=1.0&os=Windows&category=Search%20Tools&numpg=10&id=189) is as they say 'right good'

I might have changed it to 0.9, done the installs and then changed it back to 1.0, can't remember exactly.
