Title: Tapatalk unread posts
Post by: Duma on January 21, 2017, 09:16:07 pm
Just updated the app, lost the "unread" and "participated" menus. What gives? Or am I just being dim?

Click the 3 dots in the top RH corner then Customise.

I tried tapatalk but sacked it off very quickly. Thought it was pretty pants to be honest.

I view the normal web version on phone and iPad.

I use the browser most of the time but you can paste photos directly into a post with Tapatalk which is pretty handy.

No great fan of the app, and wouldn't use it on a tablet, but standard site is a right pain on what I'd consider a sensible sized phone (z5 compact) and I'd imagine still no fun on the stupid ones that don't fit in yr pocket. Pasting pics straight in is handy too.

Tapatalk plug-in is a paid feature isn't it?

What about just using a custom theme when someone is detected to be using a mobile device rather than desktop?

There are a few hits on SMF for such themes (http://custom.simplemachines.org/themes/index.php?action=search;basic_search=mobile)

Cleanest looks to me like SMF4Mobile (http://smf-media.com/) although its a $20/annum subscription, and would likely do away with the fixed sponsor links due to limited space on screen.

I like the ease of the app and photo pasting etc.
The main site is way too cluttered for mobile use (especially the front page) and requires too much zooming for my fat fingers to click anything.
Photo pasting without third party hosting is the real missing element though. Going back to uploading to Flickr etc would be shite.

All posts either sarcastic, tongue-in-cheek or mildly mocking-in-a-friendly-way unless otherwise stated. I always forget to put those smiley things...

Is it possible when posting screenshots taken on your phone/tablet into the forums via Tapatalk to use the 'width=###' argument in the BBCode markup as the images you post come out HUGE.  This likely isn't noticeable on Tapatalk where it auto-resizes images but in a browser its unsightly and difficult to read.
