Title: What happened to Liverpool YMCA wall?
Post by: iain_cbr on December 19, 2010, 08:27:20 pm
I read on the web that the YMCA has moved a few years back but I remember there being a wall at one end of a sports hall. Is it still there operated by somebody else? Has it just been binned? Was it a load of plop anyway?

It was a f*cking ace original bencrete featured wall and the only thing to train on in Liverpool when I was young.  Loads of brilliant problems made all the better by the random YMCA residents who would wander in regularly and the old men who used to play bowls in the same hall on tuesday afternoons.  It was shut down in summer 1996 for H&S reasons - something about the dangerous crashmats.  I presume it is either still in the building or got scrapped when the YMCA closed.
