Title: Mojos
Post by: Paul B on March 16, 2022, 04:34:51 pm
Has anyone recently purchased Prana Mojos?

My pair (circa 2008 vintage) have finally failed and I was made to retire them. The retired shorts were a M and looking at online reviews there seem to be quite a few complaints about much poorer quality materials and 'obesity sizing' (looking at the current chart I'd be looking at XS). I also checked another UKBer who was certain his would be a S (same vintage) but in fact those too were M.

If there are any other superior shorts of a similar style I'm all ears.

Are they the Prana shorts? If so it's a pity if they've made them worse. Mine (2011) are still doing well but starting to fall apart in a few areas, was figuring I'd just replace them like-for-like when the time came!

I haven't worn the mojos so can't compare, but my sister makes these and they work well imo https://www.hk-madeinsheffield.co.uk/shop/p/blue-recycled-nylon-short-1-fbxh7 Perfect length so you can wear your knee pads without risking the knee pad muffin top while still leaving plenty of rubber exposed.

Yes, they are.

Thanks Remus.

I wear these a lot (similar to mojos but different fabric). Possibly made by Remus’ sister for Sillygoat?

Really like them.

This is great; got completely soaked cycling to work from the wall so I've been sat here in my prana shorts feeling like a bit of a wally. Meanwhile here be this thread devoted to how fucking cool they are. Thanks guys!

The sizes haven’t changed in about ten years- I just got my three pairs out and compared them and all that’s changed is the most recent ones have shorter legs. If you’re skinny (28 waist) you’ll be an XS for sure.

I have 2 pairs of  32” climbing jeans and 3 pairs of 32” climbing shorts ( Prana and Arctyrx) all of them are much larger than my several pairs of 34” suit trousers.
They are just trying to make us feel thin just like M and S ladies sizing. :o

Prana stuff is really next size up eg 32 waist = 34 waist
Arcteryx jackets seem true to size though, no idea about troosers

Yes, in Axiom jeans for sure. Not got much experience of other models to be fair.

I’ve bought Mojos recently. The sizing is on the large size, possibly a bit larger than 20yrs ago. I take a large and I know I used to have both an XL and an L 20 yrs back. Also seem to recall trying a L maybe 10 yrs ago and them being too small. I’m a bit heavier thesedays. I don’t think they’re a full size out but like Patagonia they’re sized for the US market.

Yes the quality of the fabric is definitely not as good as it used to be.

Unless something has changed, I've heard that Prana are exiting Europe pretty soon (after this year?), something about not profitable enough to be worthwhile, so if you want to pick up some mojos then do it soon, else be prepared to look elsewhere (although the silly goat ones do look a good alternative)

Beyond hope no longer distributing. They have switched to Looking for wild as their clothing brand.

Mainly for Fiend's benefit - my 'coal' Mojos have arrived in XS. They're a bit smaller than my previous M in length but not massively. Their waist is similar (from memory). The material on the legs is definitely different with more stretch and it feels quite a bit lighter.

Anyhow, at least I don't have to suffer Euroland in jeans alone (although TBH I'll mainly be wearing Lycra - a nice visual for you all I'm sure).

Uk has been missing from the ship-to options for months (as is France and Germany, but not Guernsey or Andorra, or almost anywhere else).

Official explanation:

Quote
Why Can’t I Ship to my Country?
Because not all our UPF products meet the regional UPF requirements of certain areas, we are unable to ship to these countries and have removed them from our Ship To options. We apologize for the inconvenience
