I’m looking for some slightly heavier plates (Cast iron rather than Vinyl) so I don’t have to go around the house finding and filling up Kilner jars.
Maybe 20kg in total. Either:
4x5kg
or
2x5kg + 1x10kg
Does anyone have any sitting around before I get some from Argos/Amazon? The 1” hole would be best, but 2” is fine too).
Ideally located somewhere close to Skipton (Leeds/Bradford kind of radius).

Decathlon best for this; or gumtree/fb marketplace if you don't have any luck on here.
-
Worth checking out Aldi middle aisle too if you don’t have success elsewhere, they often have ridiculously cheap weights.

Will have a look, cheers. I’ve found some close by on FB. The guy replied instantly saying they were available (2 month old advert), and then has ignored every subsequent message. Keeping an eye out on there though.
I’m also happy to pay the Amazon costs for new ones, but would just prefer to find some which are sitting around if possible.

I just bought a load of bumper plates from a place near Marsden. They ship for £20 next day delivery. Prior to this I missed some stupendously good deals on Marketplace.
I can't remember exactly what I paid but it was about £120 for:
5ft bar
2x10
2x5
2x2.5
QR collars
Which I thought was pretty good? The quality is also good enough but I need more plates instantly and I'm going to spend the money on Mirafit stuff which is definitely better.

Some right wasters and chancers on FB marketplace. I can’t be arsed with it anymore.
I got a couple of 10kg plates from Argos which were the cheapest I could find. They do delivery/collection to various places which is handy. They seem good enough.
My girlfriend said Aldi near us currently has 10kg of plates for £7.99 ! Either 4 x 2.5kg , 2x 5kg or 1x 10kg. Though apparently the 10kg one is quite big. Bargain

Any idea what they are called? I’m
Not in a rush for any so can wait.
That’s really good though. It’s looking about £4 kilo on Amazon for the better quality plates.
Edit - £4/kg, not £20!

Argos do some semi-decent cast-iron plates. I have a bunch of these. I think it was roughly £2/kilo

Decathlon best for this;
Keep in mind that Decathlon weights are 28mm so they’ll be a big rattly on 1” bars and any bars you get from there will be too big for 1” plates.
I got a bar from there years ago without knowing this which left me with redundant plates… made it back in lockdown by eBaying them at the then sky high going rate though!

:agree: It’s like the Wild West.

Yeah fair dos, I just hang mine from a sling so haven't investigated bars etc.

It is but it's by far the least hassle way of selling things these days. Yesterday I sold two bike tyres, at asking price (which admittedly was on the low side) minutes after listing them, was paid within 15mins and they've just been collected today by a courier. It's not all bad you just have to be careful.

I have a pair of 10kg plates and a pair of 8kg plates. Vinyl, not iron but could tie you over. You can have em for bigger all if you want. I'm just near Ilkley.

If James isn't keen for the 10kg and 8 kg plates, I'd be keen for them Honroid.

Thanks for the offer but I’ve just got sorted for some!
