Title: Update
Post by: Bubba on March 07, 2009, 06:27:45 pm

The final images for the spotter/crest tees are with the printer - they are doing the proofs this coming week so i'm going to get a couple of test ones done then we're ready to rock.

I know quite a few people like the "anyone for danny's" tee but i've had problems getting the tiny initial image into a printable form. Might be able to sort this out later.

Don't order in the shop yet as I need to sort out postage and other minor bits first.

Cool, I look forward to some pics.

Post by: Bubba on March 09, 2009, 05:25:25 pm

They will be as shown in the shop: http://ukbouldering.com/shop/category.php?id_category=8 (http://ukbouldering.com/shop/category.php?id_category=8)

Logo printed on rear of shirt, plain front - 3 colours for "crest", 4 colours for "spotter".

Mens will printed on the thickest/best quality available blanks, unfortunately womens can only be printed on standard.

Might do hoodies if there is any demand.

Just need to set up postage costs and stuff now :)

Looking forward to seeing them, good work getting it sorted, Bubba.

good work, let us know when T shirts are available (I don't need another hoody though!)

Post by: Bubba on March 10, 2009, 01:53:20 pm
Well this is quite interesting.

I've just received the proofs from the printers. There has been some crossed lines and they've confused the two designs into one....

But!

They actually look quite good - what do people think? I think they've dont it this way as the "crest" image was difficult to blow up as big as the "spotter" one. In some ways this might be the best solution and i'm assuming from this that the original large "crest" image on the back isn't possible.

(see the attached pdfs)

Title: Re: Update
Post by: SA Chris on March 10, 2009, 02:17:26 pm
Yup. So they took the "crest" literally.
Title: Re: Update
Post by: slackline on March 10, 2009, 02:18:38 pm
 :agree: Looks very nice.

For variety though, would it be possible to get a higher resolution original of the crest from Richdraws so the option is still available to have t-shirts with just a preferred print on the back?

I don't think it is - I understand that Rich just knocked them up in his lunch hour and didn't do any really hi-res version so the ones I've got are the best ones.

I've converted them to vector files but I'm still not sure they are suitable.

But I'll double check with the printers.

Print em up. That's a nice compromise between my two favourite designs.
Title: Re: Update
Post by: Dolly on March 10, 2009, 02:31:08 pm
Its OK - I'd prefer the choice of the crest alone tho TBH,  if that's still cost effective for you Bubbs ?
Title: Re: Update
Post by: slackline on March 10, 2009, 02:32:33 pm
Lets hassle Richdraws to redo the crest and/or spotter at higher res  :P
Title: Re: Update
Post by: magpie on March 10, 2009, 02:35:18 pm
I like it with both; but then they were my top two design picks.

Title: Re: Update
Post by: Bubba on March 12, 2009, 01:50:38 pm

Ok, printers have said that crest can't be done at big size. Perhaps one for the future if Rich ever comes back, not seen him here for a while.

So, will anyone buy one of these? I need to sell quite a few to break even. I'm having a hoodie myself :)

Count me in, not sure if I'll have a t-shirt or hoody (don't wear the ones I have very often, Paula sequesters them!) but will definitely have at least one maybe one of each if I'm feeling flush.

Cool, as long as a few people want them I'll sort out the shop for final this weekend - I guess no t-shirt will ever be perfect and appeal to everyone.

I'll add other designs in later if this one goes ok.

Post by: magpie on March 12, 2009, 02:28:30 pm
I am still demanding a (boy sized) hoodie, which obviously I will pay for  ;)

They're not in the shop yet are they, or am I missing something, which is fairly likely  :-[

No not yet, I need to update the images in the shop to reflect the modified design :)

Hmmm not sure as I've not yet seen one in the cloth. They're based on Fruit of the Loom blanks which are used in many tees so I suspect they'll be fairly normal, whatever that means!

Hi
Martin brought this to my attention. I could attempt a higher res version of whatever you need, if required.

Title: Re: Update
Post by: Bubba on March 21, 2009, 02:34:17 pm

Hi Rich - if you can be arsed a high res "crest" would be ace, but I'm going to go with the design as it is for now, otherwise the printers will track me down and kill me after all the hassle I've caused them :)

I managed to do quite a lot with the smaller versions by using the rather good Vector Magic application.

Now that the existing ones are already with the printers, I'll offer this as one as part of the UKB Summer Collection later in the year.

You're a star good man!

Update - job is with the printers, just waiting for them to send me the cost. Then I approve it and it's 5 to 10 working days from there. Sent it to them on Friday so hopefully no long to wait!
Title: Re: Update
Post by: Bubba on April 07, 2009, 03:37:03 pm

gaah, printers have done wrong quote - only one print on front!

Have spoken to them and they're preparing the new job. Confusion stems from guy i've been dealing with all along being on holiday this week.

Hopefully this will get fixed and signed off by tomorrow.
Title: Re: Update
Post by: Bubba on April 08, 2009, 04:19:25 pm
This is turning into a nightmare - the printers have shafted me.

I was lead to believe that the main cost of printing was setting up the screens £20 per/colour.

But they've gone and added on a huge print cost per tee (for the colours) meaning that I would actually lose money getting them printed up....which obviously isn't the idea.

I'm going to try to find another print shop and see if they are more realistic.

Really sorry about this, I should have got a final quote before taking people's money but there is a huge difference in what I was originally told and the actual job cost they have come up with.

Worst case scenario is that I would have to change the "crest" logo on the front to a simple "ukb" logo as this is what is putting the cost up so much due to it being a 4 colour design.

Aaaagh! I suck, sorry folks will get this sorted  :'(

Bummer, no rush mind, hell I wouldn't mind not getting a t-shirt and that being a donation, haven't made one for a while now.
Title: Re: Update

Bubba, you don't suck.  It's not your fault that it's gone a bit tits up.    Once you know what the final word is on cost / design just let us all know, and we'll go from there.

You're doing a grand job sorting it all out, it must be a total ball ache.

Title: Re: Update
Post by: Bubba on April 10, 2009, 04:03:50 pm

Thanks for your encouragement magpie/dolly - I spend half my life in a state of sleep deprivation so am most unorganized.

Anyway, the printers have offered to simplify the "crest" logo as that is what has sent the price sky high.

Also getting a quote from a different Sheffield based print shop.

All is in hand, panic ye not shoppers :)

No problem Bubba.  These things happen.  If there is a final difference in price for what I ordered then just let me know and I'll sort you out asap.
Title: Re: Update
Post by: Bubba on April 14, 2009, 05:21:22 pm

Cheers :)

I've got a cheaper quote from the printers but i've also found a cheaper all round Sheffield based print-shop so am just waiting for a quote to come back from them. Bank Hol hasn't helped but this shouldn't take much longer.

That's okay for you to say. But as a show of faith in Bubba and in anticipation of a full ukb fashion range,  I gave away all my clothes.

So patience is all very well for some, but you're not sitting in the nude, waiting for the postman.  I haven't left the house for a fortnight and its a toss-up as to which out of myself and the cat eats the other.

Eat a cat and fashion a loincloth from the skin, then go on foraging missions. Nothing is achieved without struggle.
