Title: A minor nuance...
Post by: slackline on April 05, 2012, 03:39:47 pm
I've noticed a minor nuance in the forum.

If I place the cursor somewhere in the middle of a post I'm writing and click to insert an emoticon, the cursor then moves to the very end of the whole box.  Perhaps an example is more illustrative.  | shows the position of the cursor in what follows

Code: [Select]
I am typing some text and already have the below code in place for a picture.|

If I then click on the 'cool' emoticon to insert it I get...

Code: [Select]
I am typing some text and already have the below code in place for a picture. 8)

|

The default behaviour should really be not to move the position of the cursor within the text box.

A quick search on the SMF forums suggests a similar problem with the URL insertion buttons (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=472647.0), but I don't think the proposed solutions are appropriate.

No big deal though, like I say its a minor nuance.

Doesn't happen for me (Chrome, on Windoze)

Hmmm. Linux bug?

The browser this happens in is opera-11.62.1347 (under Linux as you correctly guessed).

Have checked under  Chrome-18.0.1025.142 or Firefox-10.0 and can't replicate (should have done this in the first place, but searched for similar problems on the SMF forums first).

Either a browser problem or a bug in PHP code (which is independent of the OS).

Can't be arsed starting VirtualBox to check Opera or FF under M$ right now but will check tomorrow (unless anyone else uses Opera under M$?)

I've just done an AR run via Windoze, then a PWC via Opera. Neither caused any issues. I wonder if you have your gatefold centred too far left to see the lyrics for Breathe?  I had the same issue a while ago with an earlier install of Divott 2.4.1

Think you're bang on the money there GCW. Only issue I have is that I didn't know slackers was a Sean Paul fan.

Call me pedantic, but isn't this more of a minor nuisance than a nuance?

I'd have thought it more a foible.

Actually, it was the south east...
Since not prefacing any sentence with the words " 'ere, moi luvver" , would have got you branded "posh" or "Gaylord" (and probably beaten up), west of Dorchester.
The land where everything would be done " 'Dreckly, moi 'ansom"...
