Right, all this chat of weights and seeing the size my legs are getting after a season of skiing and a couple (I mean a couple) of proper weights sessions I want a list of height, weight, quad circumference, deadlift max, squat max and .... current boulder level (worked) and sport level (RP).
I need strong legs because of my knee surgery and the fact I do a lot of skiing. but I don't want to bulk.
So, folks, hit me with your stats! (non deadlifters are more than welcome, preferred even)
-
Metric? Imperial? either?
-
Google Forms!
-
Google Forms!
How many cm is one of those? (sorry Fultonius - I did start with good intentions...)
-
Do you want the circumference including clots (I've been told one of them is quite big)? Or just including the fat I can't shift off the thighs due to having 25% of my original leg fitness?

You're an outlier anyway Fiend!
Erm, probably best sticking metric. I'm sure you can all convert. I'll maybe get a google form setup. What a weird thread.
-

"anyway" - that replies I'm an outlier irrespective of leg issues :P
What a weird thread.
It's your thread, lol!
What bit of the thigh do we measure anyway?

height, weight, quad circumference, deadlift max, squat max and .... current boulder level (worked) and sport level (RP)
1.9m
70kg
0.45m

7B

-
1.91m
55kg
0.40m

7B/+
8a+
I reckon that little lot will royally screw up any attempts to plot a trend line!

Good lord, I'm a fatty. Moose, eat a frickin' sandwich.
H: 1.94M
W: 85kgs
Thigh circumference: No idea
DL: 170kgs
Squat: Last time I checked maybe 110 or 120kgs (was ages ago)
Boulder: 7Cish
Redpoint: I'd rather not, thank you.
-
:slap:
-
H 1.77m
W 78kg
thigh 0.55m
DL 75kg
Squat -
Boulder 7a
sport- I wish
-
Height 177cm
Weight 73 kg
Thigh 53 cm
Boulder 7B
Figures are current.
I've taken thigh measurement where hamstrings are most prominent, near the top. Non-runners may have proportionally more developed quads.
Mr. Dawes legs are quite chunky, and I imagine there will be a few tricky slab problems he could walk up.
Also, I imagine the index of height/thigh is not linear. There are problems with this.
-
Sorry,
Squat : after two coffees.
Obviously.

height, weight, quad circumference, deadlift max, squat max and .... current boulder level (worked) and sport level (RP)
Again - Moose, eat a frickin' sandwich! And a pie, and some cake washed down with some full fat milk.
H: 1.85 m
W: 76 kg
Thigh circumference: 0.45 m
DL: 65 kg last time i tried a year ago
Squat: Never squatted (guffaw, gaffaw!)
Boulder: 7Cish
Redpoint: 8b

A little suggestion, if I may..
How about plotting height/thigh index against grade for each climber?
It would be interesting to see the relative impact of this. Personally, I've always thought there is a strong correlation between these figures, but in a general population the results won't reflect that. Or, how about one study each, for men/women?
Grades and lengths need to be strictly concurrent, too. ?

187cm / 69kg / 51cm / 137.5kg / 80kg / F8A+ / f7c

H: 180cm
W: 91kg (post Font pastries weight)
Th: 61cm

Less pies clearly needed....

187cm / 69kg / 60cm / 137.5kg / 80kg / F8A+ / f7c
:weakbench:
8A+ over 7c seems a bit odd, and highlights some of the obvious problems with this study. Surely?
Powerband has always felt like 7C or 8a+ to me. If you're bouldering 8A+, I'm sure there will be a few 8b routes you could skank your way up.

1,70 m
66/67 kg with fluctuactions of +/- 2kgs
leg circumference at its thickest : 0,52 m.
leg circumference just above the knee : 0,41 m
deadlift: probably around 50kg. At least one year since the last time i deadlifted...
boulder: 7C/+ , very worked and/or in stellar conditions.
sport : 8a, relatively quick redpoints lately (two days).
-

To have a fighting chance of producing valid and reliable measurements of thigh circumference, the point along the femur at which the measurement is taken needs to be consistent and the muscles in similar length and tension.
A quick and dirty suggestion is to do the measurement in sitting with the hip and knee flexed at 90 degrees with the thigh muscles relaxed. Measure circumference at 20cm above the superior border of the patella (top edge of the kneecap).
-
188cm tall
68cm leg
deadlift 220 maybe 210 cant remember 100%
squat ,never tried a 1rp max but done a few at 160,so maybe 175
103.5 kg
boulder maybe 6b ish at the moment
rp haha not even going to try

H - 178cm
W - 80kg
Q - 60cm - top of thigh=Largest
D - 160kg
S - no idea on max, as I only do 1-legs squats in training. I do 5 x +15kgs each leg though.
B - 8A+
S - 8b/+ ish.

I'm not surprised any of you knew your other stats, but I'm impressed I managed to get a bunch of random blokes of the intranet to find a tape measure and measure there things! Any funny looks from spouses and partners? I'll need to get the tape measure out when I get home. Currently about to crash in a snooze cube for a few hours in Dubai airport zzzzz

Never underestimate the willingness of the working man to distract himself from his gainful employment - I didn't measure my thighs for the sake of science but to stick it to da man!

H-168cm
W-59kg
Q-500mm
D-130kg
B-currently not relevant, but at current quad/deadlifting max 8a+
S-not relevant since owning a pair of thighs or deadlifting at all

Wouldn't normally have a clue about leg size but as I've just had an operation on my hip, they have measured them to check the difference between the good one and the bad one (a whole inch!!!!). Spent years trying to get smaller legs and now I need to make them bigger/ stronger again, doh!
Anyway, stats are:
height: 173cm
weight: 78kg
leg: 64cm
deadlift: 170kg
squat: not done these for years so not a clue
current boulder level: not relevant as can't boulder atm.
As a bonus extra: I was sat in a bar in Kalymnos in October and some guy came up and asked if he could measure my arms, turns out they are 38cm or so. Weirdo.
What does it all mean???
Sharratt, how big are your arms????!!!!!!!

This guy has stumpy little arms too

It's one of those grades that has an aesthetically simple linear progress and isn't readily confusable with two other almost identical but contextually different grading systems already in existence. I believe if you want to translate it into gobbledegook, it approximates to 7a/7A/F7A/Font7a or something. Bawbag.

Just over 43cm I have just been the gym but did legs so a bit of blood does pump into extremities' 😉
I wanted see what squat max was.did 1 full squat with 170.at the most maybe 1 or 2 kg more is possible

I was so confused - I thought you were saying you just went to the gym, did legs, and they're only 43cm :o
Mark, your arms are bigger than Moose's quads!
If I measure 20cm form the knee it's 50cm, but 58cm at the widest - I do have pretty massive thighs consider my lack lack of squatting/deadlifting strength :(
So,
height: 182cm
weight: 74kg (a guess, don't have scales here)
leg: 50cm (20cm from knee, or 58cm max)
deadlift: 70kg
squat: 50kg
current boulder level: 7A quick, probably 7B if I got the finger out.
F7b fairly quick, second go ish.

I actually failed at this. I sneaked in to the missus sowing room to get the tape measure, lifted up part of her sowing box to find. Ended up with needles cotton reels every where , shoved it all back with the plan to blame one of the cats if challenged about the mess.

RQ. 51 cm
S. ?
D. Haven't deadlifted in ages, best was 140 kg.
B. No clue. Is "one year board project" a clear and valid grade?
