Title: Cardio that doesn’t use leg muscle
Post by: Fiend on September 28, 2022, 10:27:26 am
...and isn't fucking swimming, for that matter  >:(

Whatever  ::) Got a random vascular check-up appt on Friday so will see if venuous bypass surgery has become more viable over the last 12 years.

 :off: :offtopic:

(P.S. Topic posted frivolously because I'm bored but bonus points for anyone who comes up with the most stupid and irrelevant non-answer)

Laps of green traverse using as many heel hooks as possible, since everyone knows gains from GT only come as a result of nearby knowledgeable experts pointing out that they aren't "in". The muscular development in the right leg as a result of said heel hooking will be offset by the atrophy in the left.

I have no idea where to post this - shamelessly stolen from Reddit:

Probably better off in one of the ape index / height vs grade discussions... BUT perhaps you could combine the vascular check-up with a cheeky little leg/arm extension then be in tip top shape (assuming a very speedy recovery!) for lanking your way around all the grit this winter!

I like how the doctor’s own ruler shows that he’s taken his shoes off for the second shot and the patient gained a few inches at most…

There is no way that that does not involve months of absolute misery and opiods

Hand cycling. Get a tall flag so you're less likely to get hit by a truck.

I recently read a more detailed piece on the same thing - it must be trending right now. Super weird, and as someone with already relatively long femurs (pointed out to me when I was trying to get better at weightlifting - my anatomy is against me!) it seems like they look kind of weird in the end result pictures because they are out of proportion. And surely there are implications for things like knee joint health in the longer term. https://www.gq.com/story/leg-lengthening (https://www.gq.com/story/leg-lengthening)

I guess touching your toes or having a positive ape index is out the question.

I used to look after children with Achondroplasia having leg-lengthening. They mostly had Tibia (shin) procedures but Femur and Humerus (thigh and upper arm) are also done. They got up to 15cm extra height if everything went well. It wasn't really painful but the stretching muscles were uncomfortable and the external metalwork a big nuisance for months and months (lengthening was typically 1cm per month) and some kids just couldn't tolerate it.

Those lads should start climbing before they go for the lengthening surgery. They'll soon wish they were shorter.

I had something in the back of my head that I had read about this before

https://www.theguardian.com/society/2000/nov/14/futureofthenhs.health1

Imagine going through all that then realising on the first day on the job how shit it is dealing with miserable gits, drunken idiots and baby vomit.
