Sad news, winter climbing legend Andy Nisbet and super keen NW Scotland rock and winter climbing developer Steve Perry have died on Ben Hope.

Condolences and sympathies to all their friends and families.
(This can be moved to RIP if seen appropriate but I think it's worth more than that).

Tragic. Nisbet always seemed indestructible.
-
Indeed, and ageless. He's always looked about 50 from age 30 until his death.
-
Yeah, saw this last night and just couldn't believe it. A huge loss.
-
Although I didn't know him his name has become one of those permanent fixtures in my mind, always associated with a steady stream of new routes and stories of Scottish winter climbing. It's oddly disconcerting and very sad to hear he's died, I somehow thought he was above all of that.

Very sad to hear. :(

Shocked

That's terribly sad... Bumping into Andy and Steve in the hills was one of the highlights of a magic trip a few years ago. Seems a smaller world this morning..
-
Really sad news.
Reminder none of us are invincible, staggering to believe two of the most experienced winter climbers died walking off.
-
Yeah. A bit of a 'base-jumper' moment for me where you wonder what margin any of us really have.
-
I suspect the walk-off would be pretty hairy up there, even though they both knew the mountain well.
This is Steve belaying me, new-routing on the Far North coast, on a good fun trip up there - he was a really sound bloke and always a good laugh to do stuff with. I was hoping to climb more with him and meet up on his home turf of Todmorden too. RIP them both.

Aw man, heard about the incident but never imagined...
