Title: Ambleside/Grasmere Bouldering
Post by: Hendo on September 13, 2005, 11:44:11 pm
Does anyone have any suggestions as to where to go bouldering in the Ambleside/Grasmere area, I'll be there this weekend and would like to get a little bouldering in but I won't have much time so long walk ins are out.

Anyone know of anywhere that fits?

Cheers

Craig H

Cheers Bubba, I'm sort of thinking about Kentmere (little font) or Langdale, they both seem close and have good reputations for quality problems.

Has anyone been or does anyone have any personal favourites that I should try?

Langdale boulders are good value for an afternoon's entertainment. About a 0.5 minute walk in so they fit your first requirement! Classic circuit of easy problems, with the crack problem on the first boulder you come to being particularly good from what i remember. Think the traverse of the lower main boulder was good too.

Oh and remember not to climb on the things that look like chips, as you'll upset the local archaeologists!

Little Font and Badger Rock are well worth checking out, maybe ten minute aproach to Badger, then Font's only over the track..

Personally i didnt rate little font, but the langdale boulders are really good for an afternoon.
