Don't do it.

As good as the climbing is at Dumby it's not a place you really want to be overnight.

Suspicions confirmed...

Anywhere closeish that might be dossable?
Heading up this afternoon, maybe do an easy circuit and then climb tomorrow and maybe Saturday as well.

Somewhere up near Craigmore maybe? http://ielt9.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crag.php?id=195 (http://ielt9.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crag.php?id=195)

Seem to remember it being quiet and in the country, or maybe at one of the reservoirs nearby?

A bit of bouldering there too, if it's dry.

It's not far to get out of Dumbarton into the nearby fields. You planning to bivvy or camp?

The laybys on the A83 next to Loch Lomond are always packed with campervans, caravans etc - I'm assuming you'd be fine pitching up or car camping there.

Thanks for the beta all! Hopefully we will find somewhere decent for tonight. Either bivvy or tent depending on the weather...

James, bit of extra beta if you're planning on climbing on saturday. Dumbarton FC play next to the rock, you usually get a free view of the game from the top of the eagle boulder and there are no problems. However, saturday sees the first visit of the team formerly known as rangers which will probably mean a serious increase in numbers, don't let it put you off but just be aware it may well be pretty busy around there on Saturday afternoon. Parking or leaving may be a bit of a pain if you time it wrong.

Make sure you don't wear any team colours!

Yeah - stick to something neutral like a shirt with alternating green and white hoops.

Irish flags always go down well with Rangers fans too...

A friend saw this and offered us a room for the night (thanks Ross!)
And I'd just been getting all my offensive clothing ready!
We might hang around a few days if it's going to be okay, get a little project. Maybe see you there!
