Just wondering, what have you snapped with a Smart Phone camera that just worked?
What phone was it?
iPhone 4s

I've been thinking about this recently. I've never taken photographs, I must have at most a couple of dozen from over three decades climbing. It just never interested me. But getting my first smartphone (Samsung Galaxy something or other) last autumn has really changed that. I really enjoy trying to capture something that catches my eye and interest. I'm sure its entirely down to the phone that my attitude has changed so much; I think that's an interesting outcome.
I don't have a way of posting here but those unfortunate to be facebook friends will have seen some of the results.
-
Andy you can link direct to your Facebook ones on here if you don't have tapatalk
-
If you have that Galaxy, use the Tapatalk app, as that hosts the photo too.(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/08/07/ra9yzubu.jpg)

Got lots of landscapes that I like, but I think this is the shot that made me most impressed with my iPhone's capabilities

Str8 outta the iphone4. Any camera can take a decent shot in good light.

It actually worked. Thanks Chris.

That is stunning! Spent a few minutes today with some swanky gear trying to get a Super Macro of a rather beautiful spider and didn't even come close to that.
-
I've only been disappointed by two things about my phone (moto g 3g ver.).
1) the none expandable storage
2) the camera
The latter is terrible!
-
Camera on my last Motorola smartphone was abysmal too. Despite being the same on-paper resolution of my iphone4's camera in actual use it could only resolve about a quarter the level of detail.
-
It actually worked. Thanks Chris.
Good work. Given my rushed explanation as I was about to dash off for the train, I'm amazed.

I feel the same
I use teenagers favourite 'snapchat' app to share these moments of interest with my friends. It's only shared on their screen for 10 seconds and then never seen again. There is something about this temporary style that makes it feel like they were with me too sharing the passing moment, and becuase of this it holds more weight with me.

eldest child has a Sony Xperia SP with an alleged 8mp camera
utter shite
looks like pics from a 3mp
currently complaining to Virgin; as a big reason for picking it was for the great camera that they advertised
it also allows her to shoot video in portrait. shirley shome mishtake

One thing I've noticed with my phone, especially with the rubber casing on it, is the amount of crap that accumulates on the lens, worth the occasional wipe with a lens cloth. Also, check if your flash is above or below the lens, on some phones it's placed below for some reason, so can create odd shadows around the tops of people's heads. If you turn the phone upside down to take pics it prevents this happening.
-
My old phone was an LG, the camera was fine, but really slow. Now on Sony Xperia Z1 compact, much much better speed and quality

The missus was messing about with the camera features at Nesscliffe and I really like this one...

Lagers. I presume you've checked the camera settings is set to max resolution? #theobvious

Missus has an Experia too, and it produces photos as good as my phone does.

Is that the Pantheon Andy? I was staggered by this on the basis of when it was built, incredible

yes - I suspect a software issue
going to do some controlled pics (tripod, light etc)
Missus has an Experia too, and it produces photos as good as my phone does.
which Xperia?

Are you judging this based on the mp's alone? If so chances are when it's above its native ISO the image quality will take a significant dive if it's a tiny sensor.

which Xperia?
f-knows, sorry, she got it a couple of months ago, a waterproof one. (#notmuchhelp)

Could we concentrate on nice phone pics rather than 'my phones camera is shit/brilliant etc...'??

well if the nature of the source isn't important why the separate thread? ;)

Ask Matt!! (the OP looked to me like it was to show pictures...)

but I haven't got a smartphone, so it's the only opportunity I've got to spout shite on this part of the interweb
I suggest you just look at the pictures and ignore the wordy bits
OK

It's amazing indeed. It's the biggest dome built with conventional materials. The higher it goes, the lighter the materials that have been used.

Geek alert - apparently you can work out in which direction your sensor reads information...!

Yes, the earlier one is the Pantheon. Here's a fun Roman one where the simple accessibility of the phone was helpful:

I used to lug around my SLR and associated gadgetry with me at every opportunity until we had our daughter and then there was a whole lot of different gadgetry that took its place.
Since then I've become a smartphone photography convert and snap lots with it!
I use Google+ backup to automatically backup my shots and use with Google+ or Snapseed to do editing of these shots almost exclusively - the results you can get are amazing!!
This shot is unedited as I just thought it was great out of the phone/camera.

Its do do with the refraction of different light wavelengths through rain droplets. Contrary to popular belief - there is not a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, but a Tesco Metro filled with cigar smoking, brogue wearing lawyer Moomins.
