Had a go on pne today. Not expert at woodworking or fingerboarding, but my amateur impressions: neatly enough machined, but slipperier wood than a BM & not as nicely radiused.

It looks like pine. Needs to be a harder wood really.

Not sure. The pic on the website is pine for sure, which would be utterly crap - splintery, wear out in no time. But the demo examples in Munich were some kind of hardwood with a darkish colour (and too low coefficient of friction)

It's all in there in the comedy blurb

"The linear, simple design makes the board an attractive piece of furniture. It is made of pinewood, a native tree of the Dolomites"

Except, as I said, the actual in-the-timber examples I saw weren't.

I am completely shocked by how many people actually got involved in this shit.
Thousands of them. Millions.
That thing sells at 250 Euros!!!
And it's just a bad copy of a BM (like every fingerboard that came out after the BM).
And apart from that, it measures hang times. Oh well, such a new thing. Neanderthals were already measuring their hang times in the caves ages ago! Their women were doing it for them by painting the caves. "Now you dead hang that edge for the time I need to draw a lion. Then for two lions. Then you'll lock off until I've drawn a tiger."
That's why they were painting the caves! There's no other reason.

So, the ranking is made on hang times. If I dead hang forever on a jug I'm at a higher ranking than the guy who hangs one arms pinky mono for 3 secs?
I mean, how serious, how trustable can it be, a fingerboard whose developers omit to specify the type and depht of the holds?
Jesus fucking christ. What have we come to?
Next thing will probably be kneebar contests.

No need, we already have a winner.

Just been looking at the website for these - at least the € 249.90 includes shipping. Cool.

Anyway, I'm quite impressed with how the smartphone app seems to work - the board moves down and tilts the phone. Can the app just be measuring inclination? I think I'll install it and see if I can record awesome hangtimes by propping up my phone with a book.

Edit: Hahahahhaaa!!!! You need an account to run the programs but the "calibrate" function works perfectly by holding a phone still then tilting it down - 250€ for a hangboard on springs!!!!

I like the name.

Its the kind of name I'd expect to see in Robocop (the original) as a reflection on future dystopian society.

Not really bothered by fingerboards to be honest...

I like the name.
As in
http://www.wordreference.com/definition/Slag (http://www.wordreference.com/definition/Slag)

Basically, that thing: looks like shit; has a name that tells it's shit; it's based on an idea that training wise is shit; costs a shitload of money; it's ultra popular and selling worldwide.
I either don't understand this world anymore, or civilization has come to an end.

Not sure its selling worldwide in the 1000s. I think most of the tests were carried out at a number of trade shows.

I might be wrong though.

As in its a play on those words from someone who doesnt understand the meaning! Slagboard sounds more like a very incorrect student website...
