Title: What will indoor/competition climbing look like in 30-40 years?
Post by: crimpinainteasy on February 27, 2021, 11:01:56 pm
Amusing to think that one day you'll have a bunch of old farts in their 50's, complaining about their local climbing wall doesn't set enough run and jumps, and paddle dynos :-[. It will be interesting to see where comp climbing goes on from here

They'll be presented by Dave Benson Phillips, climbed above gunge pools. The crowd can also vote out a competitor regardless of their ranking.

Hosted by an aging Niall Grimes.
"Nice to see you, to see you next Tuesday."

Tim Palmer can be the mean judge.
"You mangled that 5mm edge, Daahling."

Ninja warrior style courses, above a foam pit.

Continuous rotating compression problems that you need to keep moving on to get them to roll to the next platform.

Flying campus boards on pulleys.

Rows of hanging balls that you need to swing from one to the other on, each one bigger than the last.

Retro.

It’ll be a 10 degree overhanging wall made up of 5mm edges and smears on waxed plywood for feet.

A true battle of fingertip pulp endurance.
