Been getting odd ideas lately that you could attach wheelchair wheels to a lightweight stepladder, load it up with pads, tie it to your rucksack, and hey presto...
A bouldering rickshaw.
Is this a silly idea? and how cheaply can I attach big wheels to a step ladder?

I don’t know your engineering skills, but why not?
Last summer I saw a fancy version of that being trialled by the Marines. Powered and attached at a waist harness. Ultimately quite a simple machine.
Mountain bike wheels and tyres?
My only doubt is if it will fit along the average overgrown footpath.

I remember seeing a pic of Paul Craven with exactly such a contraption while he was trying Chabal at Gorple. Obviously relies on crags like Gorple with paths (near roads) wide / stable enough.

When I watched Mountain Rescue cart someone off from Rowtor they had a stretcher mounted on a single central mountain bike wheel. Having just one wheel made it really manoeuvrable and the mountain bike tyre was good on mud and rocks.

The "Is that your bed?!" rigmarole is trying enough, not looking forward to a future where I have to try and explain this wheelbarrow setup as well.

It's a great idea Hose, just needs more cheese.

Don't try and tell me you aren't already working on the Lattice brand prototype!

Not especially complex engineering, just an axle you could lash a ladder to...
Does anyone know if wheelchairs use the same clip in system as those running buggies?
Loads of those axles on eBay

Not cheap but very effective!

We're massively overthinking this

I appear to have won a bid on a pair of wheelchair wheels.

Blochobbit has been floating the same idea for ages.
Google Kayak carts, ready made axles seem to retail at £50 to £100.
-
My current spend is at £35, I think I'm going to get thrifty with the axle
-
I have one of these (https://www.prestoninnovations.com/en/products/seatboxes/pp-10735) for all my fishing gear...
-
I have been underwhelmed by my wheel purchase to be honest, a bit cheap and tacky. However, I'm soldiering on and in an act of serendipity one of the locals at the climbing wall has taken my pile of scrounged scrap to weld together into an axle. :bounce: :2thumbsup:

I read that as "soldering on". Welding sounds better. Ultimately i think you will need interchangeable wheels on the trolley to suit the terrain.
