Title: Nice place for lunch in Sheffield?
Post by: The Vicar on July 02, 2010, 01:08:03 pm
By "nice" I mean somewhere that has comfortable chairs, decent background misic, and which knows the value of a decent portion of lovingly made food of whatever style. Good coffee is also a must.

I do not live in that place so I know nothing of its delights.

City Centre or elsewhere?

Food preferences and/or price range?

Saffron Club (Indian) and Hui Wei (Chinese) are adjcent to each other on Glossop Road.  Further up Glossops Road theres Loch Fyne (seafood).  Standard-ish pub grub Olive on Division Street is ok (bit pricey though IMO).

See also the Sheffield Restaurants thread (http://ukbouldering.com/board/index.php/topic,9845.0.html) further down in the forum.

Oh, price doesn't matter too much, but some sort of pub/posh cafe/euro style venue place would be best...

Forum (http://www.forumsheffield.co.uk/)'s good for lunch. Agree re Olive (http://www.olivebarandrestaurant.co.uk/) too, very nice when we went (a while ago now). Had lots of recommendations for Platillos (http://www.platillos.co.uk/) too but not been yet.

Platillos has been good every time I've been there.
Good for taking people out from work as well as for fun. Been there with kids and its great for them as well

Not been myself, but there is also Silversmiths (http://www.silversmiths-restaurant.com/) that featured on Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmare's (and has apparently improved as a consequence).

Nice snack places in the Winter Gardens too, but nothing fancy.

I thought the forum was shit, shit food, shit service and overpriced, filled with twats too but that's a matter of opinion.

Urban Deli just up from paradise square is good, local food, all cooked on the premises (unlike the forum which is prepack dross) good coffee, decent people and very reasonably priced.

Bragazzi's without doubt the best coffee in sheffield.
Cafe Ceres on Sharrowvale road lovely food, bit cramped but my favourite by far.
Mish Mash on ecclesall road. Lovely lovely, local ingredients. Cafe style by day.
She really likes Homemade at netheredge cross roads. Very nice, mainly veggie.
