Why a new forum?
Well, lots of us do routes, especially in the summer when bouldering isn't generally at it's best.
So, this forum is to discuss all things to do with routes, be they trad/sport/whatever.
Why the word "chuff"?
Fuck knows - I think boldering.com started it.
So - feel free to come out of the closet with your tales of derring do and bolt clipping. Hell, even if you want to talk about alpine shit then feel free.
-
What a good idea. Why would people want to talk about alpine faeces here?
Shit. Sorry, I'll get me coat (its the boredom).

Bubba, excellent idea, in fact I was on the verge of suggesting a ukrouting subsection a few weeks ago. At the moment I'd still rather post about routes as a fringe option on here than a main option on UKClimbing...
Maybe it would be a good idea to move the quality chuffing pics in here too.
Gosh and I managed that post without taking the piss out of boulderers who can't route ;)

Strange really, but I keep thinking of bringing my rope out of retirement! Am I mad? Has the bouldering bubble burst? or am I sat in a shop surrounded by loads of shiny hardwear that gives me the climbing itch?
Keep thinking about the Jim Grin up at trollers gill, do I have the stamina?
Should I just venture to Gig south and start on some easy clip ups?
Then there is the grit! I could just go to Brimham and start leading some clasic VS's and HVS's?
Or should I just stick to bouldering? Has it been whats my lifes all about? In which case should I end it all?

I had an awesome day on SamT's stag do bumbling up easy trad at Kyloe Out - routes are cool, but bouldering's just more fun for me.
-
i must admit that over these last few weeks when its been roasting.i've been thinking of doing some routes, but as i don't own a rope and my mate was working.i managed not to succumb.

wasn't there a MMV route ticklist thread that could be here?
-
I think that was boulder problems wasn't it?
-
there was some routey thread about a summer wishlist, can't remember what it was called.

I haven't bouldered (apart from a brief sesh in Cornwall on a family holiday) for nearly 6 weeks. Just been out every day doing loads of classic trad routes (but then it has been very hot, and I'm writing a selected guide to routes in N Wales)
I always find it useful to give my body a prolonged rest from the pain and abuse that comes with relentless bouldering. All my twinges have gone away, but my knees do feel pretty shagged out from walking up and down all these big hills!
Mind you, it's quite cool today so I'm going out to play on some boulders this afty in the Ogwen Valley (will be doing a route or two later on though).

It is this thread:

Have moved it

In which case should I end it all?
The winner's choice really :P
The lure of shiney things to collect is pretty irresistable I agree...

I've only bouldered a handful of times since the Winter and have been out routing most weekends.
Broke into the F7b grade with Daylight Robbery which I tried 8 years ago before my climbing took a slide so that was big step forward and have ticked numerous 7a's down Cheedale.
Done a bit of trad including a stellar day at Cratcliffe when my pal and I did Suicide Wall, 5 Finger, Fern Hill and Boot Hill. A great day at Staden ticking all the good routes on Joint Effort and Bicycle Wall including Paraplege which has been my list since the Blue Stoney Guide had a picture in. Just had a top weekend in The Lakes on White Ghyll and Gimmer where Mart and I did a bunch of 3* extremes.... I just need to get some stuff done in Wales and hopefully do a 7c before the Winter comes.
