Any suggestions for new areas, new crags or anything at all to do with POI's please post them up. also feedback and error reporting is welcomed.
-
Excuse my ignorance, but what info do you need? I could give you some info for some scottish spots, if they were of any interest to anyone?
-
any stuff really as long as its a half decent venue and people would go there.
-
Sorry, I mean what info do you need to be able to set it up? Grid Reference? How many figures?
-
Ahh I see. Anyway really. as long as I can navigate to it on a map (eg multimap, google maps etc...) then that is fine
-
Ok, will get out guides when I get home.
-
Some missing peak crags. Surely all at least as significant as Sharpcliffe/Wolf Edge?
Wharncliffe SK308963 grid ref is for the parking at the top of the bouldering area I.e 2min walk in.
Shining Cliff SK328518 grid ref to the turnoff leading. Drive a further 300m up track to get to parking.
Stanage North SK227877 grid ref for parking and approach from Moscar Lodge on A57
Rivelin SK276869
Iain’s Roof, strine SK233898
Turningstone edge SK338619 GR for top parking
Cheesewhip Quarry SK338847

Just installed the POIs on my Tom Tom One without any trouble. Only small point is that when I select browse to a particular crag it has a distance in miles. I am not sure what this relates to? Maybe from your house to the crag?
-
I would of thought it was from your home location or current position to the crag. POI files only store a coordinate, a name and a phone number.
-
What's the phone number for Burbage West?
-
I'm very tempted to moderate your posts Lovejoy with my new found moderating powers but unfortunately you would just moderate them back seeing as you have the same powers.
Damn
I think it 4456713 btw
-
Must have changed, it used to be 5318008
I'll shut up now
-
they had to disconnect that line, some fool kept ringing up asking about bee-hives
-
You may laugh, a phone at burbage west would be very handy as its in signal hole for orange at least. I was once at Porth Ceriad when the SOS phone rang. We picked it up, they asked what the surf was like. We told them it was 6ft and clean. We lied.

Looks like Jim might have to start driving round with his arms inside his car.

Hi
I just thought I would post this application, in case people find it handy. It's a shareware (free download) program that manages all of your poi files from your desktop PC and saves/loads them to/from your Mobile Device.
PoiEdit also enables you to download a vast range of poi files from the most used poi sides in e.g. the UK, France etc
http://www.poiedit.com/
Also for the truly stingy and hungry, greasy spoon eating - a POI database of truckstop cafes in UK and Europe:

Cheers

Being sad & geeky I've created a file with most of the Yorkshire crags.
www.yorkshiregrit.com/yg/poi/yorkshiregrit.zip (http://www.yorkshiregrit.com/yg/poi/yorkshiregrit.zip)
Jim - feel free to nab any of the extra crags for your file, or feel free to ignore them cos they're all esoteric crap.
-
nice one jon. will be adding them all when the new guide book comes out along with the new font ones
-
Having picked up and looked at the wife's TomTom for the first time yesterday I decided to stick these bouldering POI's on them at the same time.
Checked a few for routes to Eastern Grit venues from home and it all looks good.
Good effort on compiling these Jim, much appreciated. Will by trying out the ones for Font in a few weeks
-
Thanks, there will be another updated version coming out very soon. I'll be updating the font one to include every area on bleau.info now they have gps co-ordinates of the parking for each area on the web site, at the moment its just the ones in the 7+8's guide (new one)

Cool will keep an eye out for them in case you up them before I'm off. Should come in very handy as I'm keen to check out some of the less frequented areas.
-
Just got back from font and used the POIs to find all the car parks. Totally amazing. Last time we kept getting completely lost. So a big thanks for sorting this out.
-
I'm glad they helped.
Keep meaning to do an update but trying to sell house + 2 young kids + full time job = very little time

Yeah, I tried selling 2 young kids as well. No fucker wanted them :furious:

Good work!
-
Got these working with Copilot 8 on Android (HTC Desire running 2.2)
Didn't work initially, not sure why, possibly due to the file name or a duplicate POI (there's one called 'ro' that duplicates one of the Rocher's)
Used http://www.poieditor.com/ (http://www.poieditor.com/) to delete the duplicate and resave and it worked.
For info, Copilot should open .ov2 format natively, you put it and the .bmp file in the 'copilot/save' folder and next time you start Copilot it tries to install it.
-
Nice one Toby.
-
Its dead easy to convert these POIs from OV2 to KML and then import them to Google Maps. Hey presto, you have on your phones Google Map all the bouldering areas & can Navigate to them very easily.
Thanks to those who contributed the originals.
