Title: Buying a car in the USA
Post by: account_inactive on May 18, 2006, 12:28:14 pm
I'm sure some of you have been to the states and bought cars for a road trip, so just wanted a few pointers.

Whats the deal with insurance?
Whats a good price? (for a car that will last about one month)

Cheers

Varies massively from state to state, need to be more specific.

Insurance is not that bad, providing you have an address you can use.

Cost: two words:Automatic Transmission. If this hold up you can get a good deal, or you can end up with an expensive dog if it gives out. I paid $950 for an Aerostar Van that lasted well for 6 weeks. Sold it to a dealer just before I left for half that. If I had had more time I could have sold it for similar.

I'm looking at going to Hueco.  Could I use a motel as a fixed address or the Rock Ranch?

Cheers

I think it needs to be a residential adress, or something like that. That's what they were after in Colorado anyway.
