Title: Buying a car in the USA
Post by: account_inactive on May 18, 2006, 12:28:14 pm: I'm sure some of you have been to the states and bought cars for a road trip, so just wanted a few pointers.

Whats the deal with insurance?
Whats a good price? (for a car that will last about one month)

Insurance is not that bad, providing you have an address you can use.

Cost: two words:Automatic Transmission. If this hold up you can get a good deal, or you can end up with an expensive dog if it gives out. I paid $950 for an Aerostar Van that lasted well for 6 weeks. Sold it to a dealer just before I left for half that. If I had had more time I could have sold it for similar.

I think it needs to be a residential adress, or something like that. That's what they were after in Colorado anyway.
