Don't know what the official line is - I heard from one of the staff. It was announced to them on Friday I think.

Dafuck??

Always rated The Edge a lot - sure it was a bit tight in there but the angles and setting always felt good to me, bouldering and routes.

Agree the woody was brilliant. Despite Percy and Tom working there it never felt like it was run by climbers though

Nothing on the website, but if you click through to Farcebook (https://www.facebook.com/edgecc) there is this...

And this on the closure of the bar and snooker hall at Abbedayle Picture House (http://www.socialsheffield.com/magazine/history-nostalgia/68-abbeydale-picture-house-venues-to-close.html) includes...

New tenants will now take over the space being vacated by the snooker club and bar, to be renovated into a new venue that doesn’t include snooker.

“I’ve met the new people coming in,” says Andy, “they are from one of the city centre bars.

“They are fantastic people. I and all the team just wish them all the best because it is a wonderful building.”

Is that because Phil is openingthe new place ?

Or because they've lost their clientele to Awesome Walls?

The snooker club is separate from where the climbing wall will be as I understand it.

After 20 years The Edge has now ceased trading. Thank you to all our loyal customers for their support over the years and messages of good will for the future. (http://www.sheffieldclimbing.com/index.php)

The Edge might not be gone forever.

Word is that John Graham (who started GO Outdoor) is casting around for a new tenant to run it as climbing wall.
