Title: [The Lizard][6 New Crags]
Post by: EdGowSmith on August 10, 2021, 03:58:17 pm
Some new crags on the east Lizard.
Not sure how much attention they’re gonna garner as it’s a pretty far removed area from most people, but thought it was worth reporting them somewhere.
All crags are on UKC but a lot of the easier problems haven’t been added yet.

Porthkerris
Lone boulder near the diving centre with a few easier things and this arete:

Perprean Cove
Lone board-style boulder (“The Party Boulder”) with two problems on the face so far:

(FA Joe Mullett)

Trebarveth Boulder
Lone boulder north of Coverack with some easier things:

Dean Quarry ACCESS BANNED
Disused quarry with a few boulders:

Spernic Cove
Slabby boulder on the beach, with the best thing so far being the left side of the slab, not using the arete or crack near it. Line to the right is a project.

Further along is a large overhang with some easier problems either side and an interesting (and hard?) crack project, with unfortunately snappy rock at the top.

Compass Cove
The most extensive venue, and the most potential for new things.

Large undercut slab with some easier good problems and some projects:

Trench with about 5 problems so far, some projects:

Dan on unnamed 7A arete further along:

Might put together some proper topos at some point!

Cool - you can combine Compass Cove and Spernic Cove by boulder hopping along at lowish tide which should give a decent session. Let me know if you want more info.

No worries, you can approach from Kennack too but haven't done it, think it's paid parking? Not sure.

Good work Ed.  Would be cool if you’re happy to share info with Tom Last, who is in the process of putting together a bouldering guide for Cornwall.  Let me know if you want me to PM his contact details to you.

Did Breathe today, excellent. Daughter not amused by the path down and there's no sand at the boulder atm which made the landing fairly terrifying  without a mat, but well worthwhile for all that. Cheers for the tip Ed

Ah good to hear, can imagine it would be pretty scary without a pad even with the sand there! Good effort.
