Title: Annual halloween event - night bouldering & pumpkin competiton
Post by: cider nut on October 09, 2008, 04:40:24 pm
I know ukb don't like to associate with ukc  ::) but I'm sure differences can be put aside one night a year.  So for anyone at a loose end on Halloween, come out to the Plantation after work for this:

Paul I may be remembering this completely wrong but didn't you (and some other posters here) do some awesome pumpkin carving last year? Bring one of those puppies along and I may be tempted to make the journey down just to see it in the flesh.

(or have I imagined all this....)

have been the last two efforts, the 2nd of which was extremely rushed. Both ended up with me nearly pushing a metal kebab skewer through my hand more than a few times. As we all know, danger and myself don't mix well.

This year I was thinking an S7 pumpkin would be more appropriate!

Paul - yep, still going ahead of course!  Weather even looks like it should play ball.  Looks like quite a few of the UKC crowd are going to make it out, as well as a couple of my mates.  Whoever comes, comes.  As long as there's lots of pumpkins it's all good.  I carved mine this evening!  And I've got plenty of paraffin for the bamboo torches.  Strange conversation in Homebase... Me: "you got any paraffin, for a bamboo torch, like", shop assistant: "no, we just got stuff for oil lamps".  Me: "hmmm... they *are* oil lamps, kind of".  Guy: "come with me, I'll have a look just in case", points at a bottle of "Parasene" saying "this is all we got".  Me: "ah yes, just the stuff".

nik - shame you can't make it :(

I've had similar.
Me: Do you sell multimeters
Him: No...um...what do they do?
Me: Measure voltage/resistance/current etc.
Him: No definitely not.
Natalie: Yes you do you, here come with us...

Pumpkin is as yet uncarved.

Sounds like you're planning some well-exciting pumpkin shenanigans if you're needing to buy multi-meters...

I had a bag of about a 100 spare tealights!  Oh well, they'll go back in the cupboard to be dug out again next year.
