Title: Peak Area meet Quiz
Post by: dave on November 22, 2012, 05:10:30 pm
OK guys and gals, don't all shout out the answers at once - some of these photos are scanned from old OTEs, so I'm hoping the owners will waive copyright in the spirit of promoting the work of the BMC.

I'm busy at work now so won't be posting up answers as they come in, you'll have to just peer-assess this shit:

Q1: Name this route.

Q2. How many stars did the three-starred route The Rasp get in the 1991 froggatt guide?

Q3. What do the photos of Oedopus and Synopsis in these two guides have in common?

Q4. What percentage of gargoyles are reputed to look like Bob Todd?

Q5. Name this crag
(http://dp.daveparryphotography.co.uk/BMC_Quiz/BMCQuiz_Q5.jpg)

Q6. Who stole my body at Higgar?

Q7. Name the climber.

Q8. Complete this 1989 Stanage guide photo caption: "A youthful Keith Sharples, 'an in-situ pro', now a _____ _____"

Q9. Name this mountain.

Q10. Name the 6 grit routes in The Power Of Climbing roll of honour list.

Q11. Name the boulder.

Q12. Name the crag that this route is at: "Bimbo The Exploding Lorry Drivers Gulch Eliminate".

Q13. Name the climber.

Q14. Of the 8 future E8s listed in the 1985 derwent grit guide (the famous 'last great problem' list), what is the only one not first ascended in a year containing the digit "8".

Q15. Name the crag.

I'll post the other 15 questions later.

The only staffs limestone I can think of would be on the far bank of the River Dove - Ilam Rock, Dovedale Church, Ravenstor. But Dave's made his anti-Dove stance very clear so hardly worth considering

I don't think Dave's anti - Dove, just that he doesn't think doves have anything to do with Christmas. The crag has 3 words in it's name.

One of the Celestial Twins in the Manifold Valley? Not sure which one has climbing on.

The only Manifold crag I remember in On Peak Rock was Beeston Tor, but that was in Classic Limestone or Winter Warmth. And it would be shite for a picnic.
