Title: NW to Europe (IT/ES)
Post by: Paul B on June 05, 2023, 05:42:28 pm
I've ended up with some time off during this Summer and was wondering what's everyone's beta for getting to either Spain or Italy with a car these days?

For the former I've never taken the ferry to Santander/Bilbao but I was somewhat shocked when I checked the price recently. However, I'm also acutely aware it's been a long time since I did any form of driving through Europe's toll system and I'd imagine that's now also quite expensive?

For Italy (Dolomites ish) is Belgium/Germany and onward a better plan or just through France?

I've just driven through France, basically along the A26 past Reims then the A4 towards Germany, crossing the border at Baden-Baden. Roughly 650km, tolls cost c. £60.

Hope that helps!

Getting the ferry from Hull is an enjoyable way to start a holiday (with an early finish you can do a days work first) but I’ve just noticed they only sail to Rotterdam now so the opportunity to have breakfast in Bruges is no more.
