Title: Quick hit in (circa) the Peak on Friday?
Post by: Muenchener on August 05, 2015, 08:22:06 pm: On Friday I'll be driving from Dover to Manchester, and barring major delays at Calais - P&O on the phone said "normal service has resumed" - I should have time to stop off somewhere for a couple of hours en route. Where's likely to be dry and have good options around the 6B-C range?

I'm thinking not grit in summer; I've downloaded the online topo for Minus Ten but are there better options? Needs to be pretty much roadside and easy to find without insider knowledge/guidebook. Churnet any good for those criteria?

+1 for churnett given your route.. Head up the m1 then A50 (all dual carriage way and fast across towards Stoke). Piss to find as you follow the brown signs to Alton Towers.. Little bit of a walk at the end but not bad. Also many parts weatherproof..

Head to Wright's rocks and have a go on the following:

Niche Traverse f6B+

Sauron Start f5

Saur Off Sit Start f6A+ *

Crumble Roof f6B

Post by: sdm on August 06, 2015, 06:05:43 pm: If you go to Wright's Rock, also check out Rocket Ride 6C+, Alternative Three (6C, slightly highball) and The Crack (6C). Which are all good, though not soft touches at the grade.

Such a Dick (6C), The Bison (6A) and The Caribou (6B+), all on the next buttresses to the right, are also good if they are dry.
