Anyone over Churnet way know how dry it is after all the rain we had yesterday? I know Wrights etc will be fine but might have a couple of beginners with me who would prefer to play on the more vertical stuff.
Ta.

Peakstone amphitheatre is dry. Even the witness bloc looks decent so you shouldn't have a problem finding something dry.

Anyone been to the witness block recently? Any other information on churnet appreciated too as spending the weekend there.
thanks!
-
May attempt Churnet again tomorrow, anyone been this week? What are the general feelings on when it condenses?
-
Went today - v hot with zero wind, but not humid at all. Think Catalunya in March ;). Witness block totally dry but slopers in the full sun. Shady Churnet stuff would have been fine.
-
I went to quite a few areas today and by far the coolest was the mentalist bloc.
-
Anyone been recently? Thinking of popping over on Sunday, particularly interested in how dry Farley wood (Propellor head etc) areas might be
-
Not been for 2-3 weeks but it should be fine there as long as it doesn't rain much in the meantime.
-
Last Sunday at the other end of the valley everything overhung was bone dry. Had to avoid some problems due to damp topouts from a bit of rain the day before.
I expect everything near Proppelerhead will be dry on Sunday except Day Walker and The Stranger which never seem to dry.
-
Howdy. Has any any idea how gentlemans and wrights rock are condition wise please im thinking of going tomorrow. Cheers

Musing where to go on Thursday - was wondering how it’s been faring at the moment... still lots of moisture avout and leaves on the trees so wondered how smeggy it might be...??
-
Did you venture out today TT? If so, what were conditions like? It’s meant to be clear tomorrow so considering a drive up from the SE...

Nope. Didn’t. Had a cracking day at Blackstone instead. (Sorry that’s not much help...)
-
Highish humidity but a good breeze and cool temps over the weekend and a good drying day today. I think it would be okay.
-
Thanks Fiend. Decided to take a punt on Cheddar for the day and try the Churnet next week.

Is Mike's arete (blackstone) any good? Looks so green but would be superclass if it wasn't,
-
It's very good (think consensus is perhaps a little soft for grade maybe?) and largely clean where the holds are.
-
Soft for the grades are my favourite. A good reason to go back up there!

The green doesn’t get in the way. The Lushering to the left of it is excellent. Both are N Facing so good summer problems...

This is a long way from the Churnett 😂
-
Did the lushering last weekend, ace little problem! Definitely getting off track. Sorry!

In a moment of stupidity, I managed to drive away today leaving my black Lowe Alpine rucksack on the floor outside the Rambler's Retreat with my shoes, my glasses and most of my climbing kit :chair: :slap: :wall:
I'm heading back there now in the hope that is still there.
If anyone has picked it up, please let me know.
-
I have been reunited with my bag :dance1:
-
Excellent news!
-
Yep, that could have been a very costly mistake.
-
Having never been before, how quickly do things dry here? Might be driving passed on Sunday and could be keen for a quick hit but looks like it might rain a fair bit the day before.
-
Depends who you ask! https://ukbouldering.com/board/index.php/topic,6968.msg618127.html#msg618127
Short answer is there will probably be some rock to play on but it might be damp, and if so, don't pull on.

Thanks, missed that thread.
