Title: Sharkathon 2019
Post by: shark on December 24, 2018, 05:43:13 pm
Enjoy the next 7 days then kick start the New Year with Sharkathon  :boxing:

The only rule is 30 mins of any type of exercise for every day of January. That can range from the stretching you always keep meaning to do and pinky encores

Feel free to state other aims for the month - going dry, weight loss.

I am aiming to forsake all alcohol (managed last Sharkathon) and an average seven day weight of just below 70kgs

Good luck to all who partake in the annual Sharkathon.

I’m in for my shoulder operation on Friday the 11th, so out of action for a good few months afterwards  :wavecry:

I'm in.

A combination of back injury, wedding, honeymoon and now the festive season has resulted in me nudging 80kg.

Aim is sub 78kg by end of Jan

I’m in! On a two week holiday, maintaining a little but want to get Fighting Torque within a couple of months so want to get back up to peak.

We are doing family Christmas(s) in January, so will pause a little for that, but other than that, no booze, no eating crap and 30 mins a day activity (a lot will be yoga I think!)

My bendy twisty bar stuff seems to be working on mine Fiend. Still twinges when I none down hard on left hand crimps (esp Rickover on rf) but noticing definite improvements on non climbing days.

Hope yours get better.

Almost failed at the first hurdle, but roused myself to squeeze out:

50 pull ups, 100 press ups, and 100 leg raise things (when you lie on your back with your legs in the air and raise your hips off the ground).
70.7 kgs.
No booze.

Effort Duma.

Despite last nights food and fine wine consumption had a surprisingly good home session this afternoon. Repeated my two Oak board problems three times and added an extra 2.5kg to max hangs session.

Left my scales in Devon  :slap: so ordered a new set.

Out with my boys on the grit tomorrow.

I had a massive portion of cod and chips for lunch - followed by cheese, soup and tortilla in the evening.

My fruit based exercise watch informs me I have exceeded sharkathon requisite exercise for today. Mostly 17kg sack carries for a few KM.

Mine will feature a lot of stretching but today I had a nice walk around Rivelin and did some stretching once getting back to Leeds.

12.5cm from touching toes!

Today has been pretty humbling, it started with me unable to put on my right sock so I decided Sharkathon was a good opportunity to get some mobility type stuff done. I failed on my first press-up when my left shoulder collapsed (recurring issue) and I couldn't do a single squat. So I warmed into it gently and spent 40 minutes stretching and doing various things and by tonight I was able to put my sock on and off whilst standing up and managed a few press ups, so pretty psyched to continue.

Hell no!

But 10 minutes of jumping around before to keep warm, 10 minutes in the sea and 10 minutes post swim shivering means I'm taking it  :)

I was working nights New Year’s Eve and was busy at midnight so did end up eating a load of crap at 0100 when we had finished! Going to count that as 2018...

1 hour 45 mins comp style bouldering before last nights shift started. Nothing very hard, but lots of volume. Nice to be climbing again after two week break.

No booze! I will be drinking at fake Christmas this Saturday, I think for any day I drink in Jan I’ll make up for it with a week in Feb...

Cheers TT. Still at the acute stage and struggling to get the "keep it moving" and "don't aggravate it" balance anywhere near right! Except:

1 - very slabby bouldering, ace, didn't hurt elbows at all.

That's good to hear, I'm heading there Friday morning. I'll have the kids in tow, any opinion on child-friendliness (with regard to setting rather than gimicky kid shit)?

2. Gentle indoor routes. Couldn't do F6b+/c as that felt too risky on elbows (tender afterwards anyway). Dire. Had strop and threw shoes across floor.
Title: Re: Sharkathon 2019
Post by: mrjonathanr on January 02, 2019, 10:02:58 pm
Substation is pretty child friendly because there are easier angled sections to play on but also a mezzanine with a low bouldering wall upstairs. I quite like that both rooms are easy to monitor if you want to give them freer rein to play.

Cafe, woody, campusboard etc.

Take a little padlock for a locker for your valuables if you can.

Oh, 40 minute run tonight.

Out on the grit yesterday with my boys and Conors. Team ascent of Trackside with me lagging the field. Only tried and done it once before - 21 years ago <gulp> Tommy went on to do Sidetrack and Early Doors

Replacement scales arrived confirming that I’m 6lbs over target weight.

Gardening today, Gardoms tomorrow. Might do a bit of reconnaissance with dogs before dark.

Good to get first 7 of the year. No booze obvs

#3 Just heading out to the garage for some aero-cap

2. Day out helping my gf with fieldwork. Lots of walking up and down steep river tributaries collecting data. Stretching in the evening.

3. Drove to Wales and had an afternoon at the cromlech boulders. Nice day and lots to go back for. Stretching in the evening

4. Stayed overnight in Llandudno and had a day out at sheep pen boulders. What a place. Nice day out and managed some 6C and 7A which I'm happy with. Should do some stretching when I get home

Bouldering at Gardoms with the boys and Dolly yesterday. No tickage. Then went to Foundry for a moderate pump on the auto belay.

Weighed in 2lb lighter than Monday but visceral fat higher than normal at 7 although I don’t know what to read into that or even know what the 7 stands for except I’m usually 5 when lean and 6 when a bit heavier.

Rest day climbingwise today so probably gardening ‘exercise’ today - leaf clearing and bush chopping. Indoor training day tomorrow

3. An hour on the Wave plus TRX IYTs and core.
4. Some stretching although saying it was 30 mins might be stretching it some.
5. Baslow bouldering. 3+ hours of trying hard and ticking nowt. Brilliant.

3 - 35 minutes physio including dry needling and taping. Phil positive as always. Didn't bollock me much for overdoing it over Xmas but then again I probably bollocked myself enough. No exercise cos reasonz.
4 - 1.5 hours gym including the fucking sledge, gentle non-aggravating weights and decent CV despite feeling delicate.
5 - 2 hours indoor bouldering, hard to warm up, elbows felt very susceptible and was demoralising struggling to do the easy stuff. Managed to do a few okay slabs after I packed up my tiny violin.

5. Good day at malham today. After 2 days bouldering in north Wales I felt pretty readied trashed but had 5 or 6 goes on F&EE. Cold rock limited some progress but happy to get to get up it a few times.
Not much dry hence the same climb over and over.

Felt way harder than last time I was there a few years back but I'm putting it down to freezing rock and no rest days. Feel like I'd walk up it again next time. Made me psyched for malham this year!!

Yeah I was up with Andy. Most things were pretty soaked on the catwalk. Rated PG to F&EE were dry. Raindogs pockets and some footholds were wet but dryable. Everything else would be a non starter

The oak had some wet bits low down (pockets which you go out left to about 4m up) but not sure about the top.

Someone was on obsession which was okay plus a few other lines up top but I can't remember which were mentioned.

Jan 1 - Jan 3. Skiing in a daze of drunkenness (due to extraordinarily aggressive plying from mother in law ... the booze that is.). Shoulder rehab exercises every day.
Jan 4. Walking 60 min. 30min at good clip. A few shoulder rehab exercises. Plenty of booze.
Jan 5. Flying back home very early from Geneva. Fingerboard max session, pullups, a bit of core, some aerobic testing on fb. Weight 69.1 kg at 11am before eating (can't afford having breakfast at Geneva airport, because not made of swiss francs.)
Walking 2 x 15 min at brisk speed. Biking 2x15 min.
Jan 6. Fingerboard, max hangs + anaerobic function testing (was even worse than I could imagine... I knew my short strength endurance was shit, because I have a hard time doing 20 mvs route at grades similar to my max onsight level for 50m routes). Shoulder rehab exercises. Morning weight : 69.9kg.

Nothing, couldn't face it :(
71.5 kgs
No booze.
5.
28 Pull ups, 82 Press ups, 100 sit ups. couldn't complete - pitiful, again. 1hr walk - wouldn't normally count this but I'm scraping the barrel here.
71.4 kgs
No booze.
6.
20 Pull ups. Took daughter to UCR and did bit of easy bouldering - pitiful, again.
71.1 kgs
No booze.

2 says of failure and a couple of half arsed efforts - really struggling atm, hopefully will improve this week. At least abstention doesn't seem to be any effort.

6 - short walk with kids

2nd - local bouldering at climbing wall with youngest
3th - a short pull-up, press-up, leg raises session and a dog joggy-walk, travel to UK
4th - SubStation family climbing trip
5th - Took the moppets to Mini-Works (scraping the barrel here...) and joggy-walked up a biggish hill in the wind.
6th - Running round woods and playing on rope-swing with kids.
7th - a concerted effort at some depressingly inflexible stretching...

I was away socialising with the family at the weekend so knew that some of the entries would be bare minimum stuff.

Subtation in Macclesfield is brilliant by the way. Both kids thought it was better than Mini-Works! To be fair this could be in part down to the fact it is so new and clean and whizzy looking. But it genuinely was very good. The LED board looked ace, and the other bits of the training section looked the part (I'm in no fit state to actually use them right now so can't comment fully) but the upper "kids" wall was enjoyed by the kids and provided a decent warm-up for me and the wife. Downstairs was great. We were a pretty diverse group of people (a 6 year old, a 11 year old, and two middle aged folk a female seldom climber and a male used to be climber) and we all found plently of problems we could do, stuff we could work, stuff we could almost do and... well you know. One of the really nice things was that some of the harder problems were not just about the distance between holds, meaning my 6 year old (who is probably pretty handy for a 6 year old) could do decent links on several of the harder problems. Really really impressed.
And then the food. The coffee was nice my wife had "the nicest brownie ever", the kids had "the best pizza ever" (and they have a vast reference pool of pizza to call on). Service was really friendly and everything was freshly made. I hope it's a great success and if it continues as it's started then we will definitely be visiting every time I'm over (my dad lives in Macclesfield).

30/12/18 79.1kg

1 - bouldering. 1 hr 45ish. Nothing super hard, reasonably high volume. Skin poor from sea and rest. In theatre for midnight New Year’s Eve so missed it. Ate some shit around 0100 in the morning. No booze.

2 - Yoga 1 hour with instructor. Diet not great. No booze.

3 - jet lag kicks in. One pull up! Fell asleep at 2100 post nap. No booze.

4 - Portland, mad DOMS. Got absolutely boxed, failed to climb easy climbs. But good to get back into it. Fake Christmas Eve. Drank two and half glasses of Prosecco, boozing after climbing.... breaking a golden rule.

5 - Fake Christmas Day. Up early for 50 mins of yoga. Bit of core. Drank and ate way too much.

6 - hanging leg raises, tucks, front lever reps; can’t do static yet. Ate too much. Yoga in evening, short session. No booze.

7 - bouldering. About 1.5hrs. Easy comp followed by a little PE. Better than previous but harder sessions from here.

Today, 76.3kg, getting rid of some of that water. I’m not too concerned with my start this week, but will do better next. By my self imposed rules I now owe two weeks of non drinking in Feb!

1 –  30m mins mobility/stretches (which I would definitely not have done but for this thread).
2 – bodyweight gymnastic stuff and an hour running / scooting on seafront with infants.
3 – cycle commute (40 mins) and bodyweight gymnastic stuff.
4 – cycle commute (60 mins) and 2 hrs indoor climbing (Arch new roof sets)
5 – bodyweight gymnastic stuff.
6 – bodyweight gymnastic stuff and an hour’s hilly walk with infants. 30 mins mobility/stretches.
7 – Cycle commute (40 mins). BM – first repeaters since last spring. Utter joy at having almost completed one set of the 6C routine (failed at 5 seconds on the last hang of the offset 2 fingers) gradually turning to despair having evidently strained the 'flexor unit' in my left hand ( . . .on the last hang of the offset 2 fingers). Thankfully, does not seem too bad today . . .

6. Clutching at straws a bit but cycled to a friends to pick something up (c.20 mins) and a 4 mile walk along the river in Leeds. Nothing very strenuous but kind of exercise...

7. Depot Session - circuit board to warm up. Small amount of campusing. Then tried to make a circuit on the 30 degree board. Got one made (27 moves) but kept dropping the end where the footholds get crap. No idea what this is training but I'm sure it'll help something...

10 - 2 hours gentle gym, up to 80kg bench, 50kg overhead press, 160kg deadlift and 3x90kg squat, elbows only felt sore lifting plates onto the bar. Arm cycling and stretching. Felt a lot happier lifting metal and wearing a Devourment vest.

Dance lesson in addition to dog walk yesterday

Today’s weigh in was depressing. Up 1.6lb for no obvious reason.

Wanted to do routes at Tor but it was wet. Decamped to Remergence and had many goes on Blind Date. Forced myself to do a max hangs session just now.

8 - 76.3kg - circuit of weights, bit of conditioning and antagonist stuff. Newish for me! Not sure did enough. Brief yoga. No booze.
9 - bouldering. Two hours. Volume more than hard as introducing work colleague to climbing. Very brief yoga.  No booze.
10 - I did two pistol squats, so nothing. No booze.
11 - Anderson style fingerboard session, 36 mins. BM2000 bottom rung. Last two sets on slopers due to finger niggle. Skull crushers and pistol squats (on a bench, can’t do properly yet). Parents house evening. Did drink...
12 - nothing. Booze sadly.
13 - home board session at mates house followed by few sets of leg raises. Fingery/hard moves. Really good. Left index a bit tender though disappointingly.
14 - rest. Ran out of time, but should have done something. No booze! As high as 79.2kg today. Something about visiting parents...

9 - Cycle commute 45 mins
10 - Indoor climbing (Castle) 2.5 hours. Finally had a go on autobelays and delighted to find that not climbing any routes for a few years has had no discernible effect on my grades. I am no shitter than I used to be . . . Cycle commute plus to and from wall 2 hours.
11 - Indoor climb (Arch) 1.5 hours. Below my usual low standards. Cycle commute plus to and from wall 1.5 hours.
12 - Gymastic strength stuff plus 90 mins swimming with kids (even split between wrestling and water slides).
13 - 45 mins football with kids.

15 - 79.5kg with harness etc. Weighted pull ups. Warm up then 3 sets of 5 +30kg, 2 sets 1 +46kg, 2 more sets 5 +30kg. Finger friendly.
16 - quick session at Red. 40 mins or so. Laps on PE circuit. Felt good. Finished strong.
17 - didn’t do anything except carry the start of my Brexit stockpile upstairs and that was strenuous enough. Forecast was crap for Friday, didn’t sleep enough thinking would get lie in.
18 - weather forecast drastically improved by 6am so had to get up. First session of year on Fighting Torque. Moves felt easy enough warming up. Wind chill horrendous, made redpointing impossible. Sacked it to red spider for couple of hours on new comp problems.
19 - one hour yoga class. Seemed quite intense. Party in evening til 0300. Far too much to drink.
20 - Bouldering at Vauxhall west with some survivors. Hungover. After being essentially booze free in autumn my dry January has been a disaster, but committed now to getting back on the wagon.
21 - Ate old curry on Sunday night and got food poisoning. No fit state to do anything.
22 - 40 mins comp problems at red and then board PE circuit 8 laps (3 complete). Might be getting too practiced at circuit, but certainly felt like working hard.

Success in terms of training on all but two days and one probably fair enough. Have to sort out the booze though! Can’t see reasonable excuse to drink now before 8th Feb though, so that is new target.

I made a semi conscious decision to stop drinking afternoon coffee and try avoid all caffeine after 1600 and I feel like my sleep problems are a bit of a thing of the past, unless I’ve just done a really heavy training session. That always gets me wired.

Hi, do you notice the difference drinking less coffee?

Definitely. I used to drink coffee in the evening and stopped when it clicked that it might be the cause of the mad dreams that left my head buzzing in the small hours. Dreams got less frantic. Since the start of the month and drinking only in the morning they are further subdued but that might be the lack of alcohol too.

It's been a while, oops!

8. 30 mins stretching session after my German classes.

20 - 90 mins walk, infant carrying for last 20 mins, fingerboard BM 6C x1 (but avoiding middle two on left hand)
21 - Gymnastic strength stuff and 30 mins cycle to and from supermarket.

21. Bouldering in the gym + circuits
22. Endurance on oversized fingerboard. Shoulder rehab. Core
23. Only Fingerboard
24. Routes in St Antonin. About 150 m of climbing
25. Nothing.
26. Tried to climb outdoors, but it was very wet. A warmup route and a cursory dogging session on a very wet route. Went back to Toulouse and bouldered in the gym instead.
27. Fail. Had plans of biking or running, but gale + rain made me stay in all day.
Still no booze. No breakfast except on outdoor climbing days. Hard week for my diet. Very very hungry in evenings, quite hungry when I wake up, and very little weight loss, if any.
7 day average weight 69.7 kg

25. Stretching, core and 4 mile plod testing toe and calf.
26. 5km effort. Foundry board. IYTs, oak tree step out planks variation.
27. Rivelin session. Bit tired. Cool Runnings was good.

I tried Sharkathon last year and got to 28th Jan when I was floored by proper flu and didn’t do any exercise for seven days straight and then another two weeks before I was anything like back to normal.

So todays the day!

So far this year managed;
3 days on rock, Shafto, Gimmerknowle and Doveholes, managed new 7a/7a+ in couple of attempts at each place. Weather and a slight cold has prevented more days out.
13 days running total distance 72km. Not too far but some of these days were also Finger board or wall days.
9 days at Climb Newcastle bouldering.  Mainly trying circuits 6A-7B.
5 fingerboard sessions, (usually max hangs with +20kg on BM 20mm slots)
3 days at Sunderland Wall routes, flipping heck its high!
1 weights session at gym, Bench press 8 reps of 60kg. and seated leg press 8 sets of 100kg.  Could hardly walk the next two days!

Its been a good foundation month.
On the negative side;
•   Climbed out side less than I wanted.
•   Weight seems stuck at 73kg +/- 1kg no matter what I do.
•   Went off plan and did less structured training.
On the plus side;
•   Feel like I am moving quite well.
•   Injury free.
•   Psyche for training is high!

24. City Bloc bouldering. Good session though I think the yellow circuit has got easier...
25. Looking after a dog for the weekend. Left my keys inside and got locked out so ended up having a 2 hour walk until the Mrs got home.
26. Multiple dog walks including a c.3mile run
27. Walked from ilkley to Skipton (10miles)
28. Lunch gym session. 2km run at 20 minute park run pace. Bench press, dips, shoulder press, triceps extensions and stretched. Probably end up at the Depot tonight too if my arms feel recovered...

23 - post nights. Should really have done some yoga.
24 - DOMS. Few pull ups to try recover.
25 - 77.3kg. 12 hour shift at work, but made it to wall for about 2045. Good PE session, 6 laps of mostly high quality.
26 - Another 12 hour shift. Max hangs in eve. Good.
27 - Third 12 hour shift and this time just rest.
28 - Another session on Fighting Torque. Conditions couldn’t really have been better once sun off face. I think I was feeling the fatigue from the weekend, but no excuses, just couldn’t get it done. Fell from same high point twice again... next week...

71.2 kg :-(
One beer.

26.
Hour swimming with daughter, pretty gentle, but we did walk to and from the pool as well (30 min each way).
70.8 kg
double whisky.

27.
Fail. No excuses.
69.8 kg.
4 beers (was a mates bday though).

28.
Hour at wall, planned a longer session but still seemed fucked from nights so slept in.
69.7 kg
one beer.

29.
2 hours at wall, good session hard bouldering. Felt refreshed for first time since nights last week.
69.8 kg
Will try to abstain this eve but bought some nice beer earlier so will prob fail.

Terrible few days Thurs - Sun, always a struggle when the back end of a set of nights coincides with me having my daughter for the weekend. Should have done better on Fri and Sun though. On the plus side, pleased with weight loss, it even seemed to survive the pub on Sun eve, hoping to stabilise around this level.

30 Last minute visit to dentist.  :'( Came out unpsyched to go outside. Max hangs session with lower weight but still burnt out. Went on my home board. Managed to repeat #Oak2. Short dog walk. Walked to strength class. Half of my temporary tooth fell out. Felt under par at strength class and started feeling woozy and headachy at end so missed last station. Went home and straight to bed

31 Dog walk in a bit then dance class this evening. Will try and book into dentist again

Weight has been stubbornly holding out this month then suddenly started dropping in last few days for no obvious reason. This pattern has happened before. 7 day average has dropped from 160.3lbs for first week in Jan to 158.2lbs for last 7 days ie 2.1lb difference. However weighed in at 155.8lbs this morning compared to 161.2lbs on Jan 1st ie 5.4lb difference although to be fair I ate bugger all yesterday due to loss of appetite and lost 1.6lb overnight

Weekly average weight by day:

28 Double session FB in the morning, Bouldering gym in the evening. Strength + strength endurance
29 Double session. Core+shoulders in the morning. Campus w. feet in the evening
30 Very very little sleep, No training.
31 Still little sleep. FB at lunch. Planning a boulder session tonight. Hope I'm not too sleepy.

I started a few days late on this period of fasting, abstinence, and penitence due to family commitment, and at current weight loss of 48 g/day or 330 g/week I will need at least 2 more weeks to achieve my goals. It still boggles my mind when people are speaking blithely about loosing half a kilo/a pound a week. I don't think I could loose weight faster than I do now while living this sedentary lifestyle (it is easier when I'm out and about all day, but when the day mostly consist of driving to work, sitting in front of a desk and giving lectures and classes...)

All heading the right way - you seem very disciplined. Bet you are in single figure % body fat. I’m not there yet according to body monitoring scales.

My weekly weight loss has been generally slow. (week one down 0.4lb week two down 0.1lb week three 1.1lb week four down 0.6lb)

My current main tactic is on rest days to not to eat till midday or longer if I can hold out. Also keep sugar and other simple carb intake lowish.

RED. Ran every day in support of MIND campaign except the days in the middle when I was snowboarding and the day I missed due to a stinking cold. (A run I caught up by doubling up with the second one in dreadful conditions).

Feel better for it physically but more importantly mentally.

Probably just above 10%, some visible vascularity on abs. But hard to judge even with callipers at my age as lots of the body fat is around internal organs. I don't trust body monitoring scales at all.

I'd take slow but steady weight loss as a sign that you're doing it healthily. There are plenty of ways to lose weight very quickly but none of them will have a positive impact on your climbing in anything but the very short term.

29 - rest, did need it. 75.8kg. Lightest since Christmas but think dehydrated. Headache by evening.
30 - 76.7kg. Power endurance at red again.
31 - I might do some yoga when I get home but who knows.

Not sure I really did this right other than a glorified kind of power club but maybe a few extra yoga sessions. Couple of kilos off since Christmas but still a little off my lightest. More work to be done to get up Fighting Torque.

30 - 1 hour gentle gym, just getting back into it. 5 gentle minutes on rowing machine at the end and my elbows were twinging.
31 - 2 hours medium gym. Avoided rowing, lifted some weights. Elbow capsules sore before but not any worse after. Eccentrics.

What a festering shitshow of a Sharkathon. Constantly fucked elbows stopped me training almost anything relevant to climbing, legs and winter weather hampered training CV, freezing temps hampered doing recommended easy mileage at walls, trying yoga properly just put me off it even more, and tonsilitis garnished the whole thing nicely with fuck all exercise for several days unless you count tensing and spasming while swallowing.

I've almost certainly come out of it heavier, less fit, and considerably weaker than at the start. The only neutral aspects are during my brief dabblings on rock (Font6A-B, down from 6C-7A) I haven't got worse technically, I'm no worse at the gym, and my guts don't seem any worse. Hoo-fucking-rah.
 :boohoo: etc etc whatever.

So i see it as a few complete strike outs, and a few below criteria, but i think they were made up for on other days. But that's up to the judging panel.

Ski trip was definitely not dry by any stretch of the imagination, but probably only had a unit a week max since.

Made it!
Just!
Nearly failed last night, had choice of run or wall and choose wall but felt weak and tweaky from Wednesday’s session.
Completed 30mins of warm up climbing, then 3 sets of repeaters and started on Max hangs when joints started complaining and was failing at half the time i was on Monday’s session.
So a slightly disappointing work out, but a definite win for being sensible for once.  Finished off with some front lever attempts and random core stuff.

Few days off now for some winter stuff then back on it next week.   :weakbench:

Poor show from me (clutching at straws last Saturday especially . . .) the year can only improve. I seem to be doing more cycle commuting than anything else . . .

26 - sporadic but enthusiastic dancing between midnight and 4am, half an hour's football with infants, deep physical regret
27 - 1hr walk, mobility stuff
28  - cycle commute
29  - cycle commute plus gymnastic strength stuff
30  - cycle commute plus gymnastic strength stuff and fingerboard (BM 6C x1 (still avoiding middle 2 on left)

I’m a bit late to report, but barring the day I had my operation and the following day, I managed at least a half hour/an hour walk into town and back pushing the boy in his pram. And if you know a Richmond, you’ll know that’s a good effort as it’s hilly!

I am aware this might not qualify for sharkathon, but I’m pleased I have managed to keep at least a little bit active. The pain before my op was pretty bad, and the recovery has been mildly uncomfortable but nowhere near as bad as I thought it might be. I’ve got a few weeks of light duties left to do, then I can start looking at doing some proper training again. Will start with some shortish runs again I think and then I might be brave and try an easy session at the wall. I’m genuinely bubbling with excitement at the prospect of actually climbing again!

By virtue of having active kids and a physical job I could probably claim to have satisfied the requirements of the Sharkathon but in all honesty it's a fail...

As a month of working on mental health it has been more successful, but that's not for this thread.

Success in whatever direction is worthwhile.

What I liked about the Sharkathon is it gave me not just an excuse/fillip to do something I wanted to anyway, but created a habit I can try to loosely maintain. Cheers
