Title: [Black Hole Sun][F7a+, F7a, F7a][Twll Mawr]
Post by: Pantontino on July 15, 2011, 11:48:49 am
Ian Lloyd-Jones has done it again - a three pitch monster in Twll Mawr and said to be even better than Supermassive Back Hole.

We went on this yesterday (top down).

The grade seems a little on the generous side on the final pitch, it certainly felt easier than the first pitch of supermassive.

I have to say that despite all the bolts, Twll Mawr felt very intimidating. Mr Panton suggested a helmet was essential on a weekend and he was proved right as people started hurling things down into the hole, lovely.

The climbing was great and its nice for a wuss like me to be able to climb in that part of the quarry.

(ps. can anyone explain why the hell there are bags with animal bones in at the bottom of the route?)

Certainly makes it exciting when the stone fire begins. Only experienced it a couple of times in Twll Mawr, but that whistle they describe in alpine tales is proper eerie.

Farmers are s'posed to declare all dead sheep and dispose of them via protocol. Twll mawr must be too tempting...

1st pitch bushmaster
2 pitch scorpion
3 & 4th pitch bushmaster

= a safe and solid HVS outing on the back wall.

although for E3 Hamadryad is supersafe and quality, with the 1st pitch having the only bold bits.
