Crazy price (http://www.ebay.com/itm/NIKON-REFLEX-NIKKOR-C-2000mm-F11-1-11-Lens-/321233382040?pt=Camera_Lenses&hash=item4acb006a98) :o
I dread to think what a brand new one would cost.

Agreed Slackline, an old fishing buddy of mine used to be a staff photographer at Reuters, he told me that for lenses like this the guys often hired them rather than pay the price of a new Beemer - mind you he also told me he had over £100k worth of photo gear when he quit in the late 90's!!!

"Item condition:For parts or not working"

"Item condition:For parts or not working"
I thought that too, then read the whole listing, at the bottom of the advert they've written...
"THE ONLY REASON WE SELL THIS ITEM FORPART IS ONE THE ITEM HAS A LITTLE BODY DAMAGE ON THE LENS THREAD AS YOU CAN SEE IT ON THE PICTURES AND SECOND WE DON'T HAVE THE TOOLS TO TEST IT."
Still a bit of a gamble to take at the price.

I think the price is more due to rarity - very few were made - and subsequent value to collectors. Not a very useful lens to anyone, and you can pick up a similarly sized reflex telescope for a lot less, with a likely negligible difference in quality. Being basically two mirrors there aren't the expensive fancy aspheric/ rare-earth elements you get in super telephotos of refracting design.
