Vote here (http://sport.bt.com/women-in-sport-01414698247362) to help BMC ambassador Shauna Coxsey become BT Sport's Action Woman of the Year. This is the second edition of the awards and the first time a climber has been selected for the exclusive 10-woman shortlist.

2014 has been another incredible year for Britain's sportswomen and the shortlist is bursting with talented individuals who have produced dynamic sporting performances.

It's up to the public to decide who will succeed last year's winner, downhill mountain biking star Rachel Atherton, as Action Woman of the Year. Voting is open until Tuesday 2 December.

Each nominee has a supporter from the world of sport or entertainment who has been especially dazzled by their achievements this year.  Shauna's supporter, olympic heptathlete Louise Hazel, says:

"I have complete admiration and awe for a woman who has become a world-beater at such a young age in a sport as physically and mentally challenging as climbing. You’ve got to be strong, brave, intuitive, flexible and very clever.

"I used to hang upside-down for maybe a few milli-seconds in the heptathlon high jump. This woman can spend all day there - and no ropes either. It is a privilege and pleasure to be her whole-hearted supporter."

Clare Balding will present the trophy to the winner during a star-studded awards ceremony at BT Sport's Olympic Park studios, which will be broadcast on BT Sport on Wednesday 10 December.

The athletes vying for this year's BT Sport's Action Woman title are:

Shauna Coxsey (Double World Cup Bouldering Champion)
Charlotte Edwards (England Women’s Cricket Captain)
Jo Pavey (European 10,000m gold medalist)
Charlotte Dujardin (World, Olympic, European, World Cup Dressage Champion)
Jordanne Whiley (Grand Slam-winning women’s wheelchair doubles tennis champion)
Fara Williams (England Women’s Football and Liverpool Ladies FC)
Emily Scarratt (England women’s rugby World Champion)
Helen Glover and Heather Stanning (Record-breaking rowing World Champions)
Claudia Fragapane (Commonwealth gymnastics champion)
Lizzy Yarnold (Olympic skeleton gold medalist).

When I read it properly, it's less action and more another sports personality type award.
But horse dancing isn't a sport. Still 2nd is a big media exposure for bouldering.

2nd is decent. Was always going to be tricky to beat the horse / Rah vote.

Cricket and Dressage?
They're not even sports.

But far more ladylike!

Women! Know your place!

Dancing horses and sedate afternoons of gentle batting practice are all your delicate minds can deal with.

Where's the "Aaaaaarrrrgghhh! This is patronising crap" emoticon?

The England Women's cricket team are one of our most successful teams in any sport and if anyone thinks that cricket isn't a tough sport then I suggest they try a session in the nets facing deliveries of c80 mph (a speed which the quickest female bowlers can achieve).

#evenclimberscanlookokwithenoughscrubbing

I think it's a great result up agains the mass appeal of the horsey crowd.

Sorry...😔

Growing up in Cornwall, I was raised to consider any ball that's not egg shaped to be for wusses...😉

And, hey, I'm pro-climbing and think it's a far superior sport to any other!

I suppose it's an easy mistake to make. Just ironic that by saying something was patronising crap you were actually being sexist and patronising!

There's nothing delicate about getting your arm or ribs broken by a cricket ball.....

It was meant tounge-in-cheek...

I learned to ride as a toddler and even completed the Household Cavalry Riding Out course (at least an abbreviated version at the Knightsbridge barracks), nothing wussy about being thrown off a horse either (or kicked, bitten, sat on, stood on....).

I really meant it as a joke, I know Cricket is taken seriously up North, but...

Yeah sorry Matt I get that it was tongue in cheek, I just get fed up of lazy stereotypes like simes' "they're not even sports".

Just because it's not something you're into it doesn't automatically make it shit or pointless or any less worthy (except for baseball).

Was going to mention horse riding too as I also rode as a kid. It hurts.

I did a bit of horse riding as a kid and was scared out my mind but I still wouldn't consider it an action sport, unless they're doing this....

Stubbs, are you taking the piss? You've never heard of Jo Pavey?

Amongst may achievement over the years, the big one form this year was:

'She won the 10,000 m gold medal at the 2014 European Championships in Zürich, ten months after giving birth to her second child, to become the oldest female European champion in history at the age of 40 years and 325 days.'

I follow climbing and cycling, never watch athletics; beyond Linford, Mo and Radcliffe I'd struggle to name many more British runners!

Can't believe Jo Pavey didn't win. What she did was just ludicrously impressive.

This. Probably too busy with kids to whip up daily voting via social media.
Horse dancing is no doubt impressive, and must take amazing dedication, but surely cannot be considered an action sport.
