Title: Broomgrove - demolition
Post by: elliepygall on November 23, 2010, 09:55:14 am
Word is that the halls that it's on the side of is currently empty and will be demolished soon. Unconfirmed but just what I've heard from some hallam students. trying to see if I can get some more concrete information.

Do we need to set up some kind of save our wall campaign or will it be more like the berlin wall with people queuing up to take a piece of history home with them.

I can't imagine it will be saved, never liked it anyway. Still mourning Crewe flats though, would have liked a block from that.

like scouse d but simple things....

i spent a lot of time at crewe flats and some at broomsgrove road(wet weather).
i was gutted in the last term of my first year to discover these having walked to the foundry/office a lot and walked/hitched or bussed out to peak only to miss a night out.

then i used to lecture in the morn, stick some sticky papers together, have a chat with barry badboy and chongo billy. then on with my s(crap)a turbo's, tune radio 1 on the little radio, my mate's s(hed) 7 target mat and move right to left or left to right, totally wired climbing, ace.

i didn't miss a night out in 2 years as i was home by 5 cos i was only 10 mins walk away

this has made me sentimental about places you or anyone else will never go climbing again. however shit. i always look right when getting to the pen y clip tunnel on a55.

"...work will begin in autumn with the demolition of the Heart of the Campus, Marshall Hall and Yorkon buildings. " - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-south-yorkshire-18297472 (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-south-yorkshire-18297472)

As far I can tell this won't affect the wall?

They regenerated the building I believe. Think it will be there for a while now.
