Title: Worst films ever
Post by: TobyD on August 29, 2021, 06:33:01 pm
Having made a foolish decision to watch Suicide Squad recently made me wonder if it was a candidate for one of the worst films I'd seen.

What are the worst three films you've ever seen? I might go for Gerry, Suicide Squad and Killer Clowns. That's only straight off the top of my head though, there may be others.

Dish Dogs (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0132920/) is the worst film I’ve ever seen. The dramatic denouement has the main character eating from two bags of crisps at once as a metaphor for seizing life’s opportunities.

For a long time I would have said SLC Punk! (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0133189/) as well but I learnt many years after watching it that it’s meant to be at least partly a comedy and is highly thought of by some people so, although I haven’t watched it again and don’t plan to, I realise I might have missed the point at the time.

Revolutionary Road, no question. A dislikable couple spend two hours bickering

Titanic
Utterly loathsome.

Trying to avoid the "so bad it's good" category, I can only come up with two off the top of my head that are utterly without redeeming features: Pearl Harbor and Shaolin Soccer.

Killer Clowns

This had better not be Killer Klowns From Outer Space

So bad it’s good: Iron Sky and Iron Sky: The Coming Race.

Nazi Moon bases and Hitler was an alien. Plus, the Nazi’s ride T Rex’s.

Utter Drivel:
Left Behind.
Christian post apocalypse/post rapture drivel that you won’t get more than ten minutes through without the whole “Clockwork Orange” strapped to the chair and eyes wired open. Even then you’d probably drift off.

Shaolin soccer is the worst film I've ever seen. Beyond so bad it is good. It is irredeemably bad in every way.

Killer Clowns

This had better not be Killer Klowns From Outer Space

The very same: https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/killer_klowns_from_outer_space

On reflection I'm sure I've seen worse. Vengeance: The Demon possibly.

Gerry I really disliked at the time though. The likes of Titanic may be sentimental drivel, but at least it knows it, and doesn't pretend to be anything else.  Gerry is 4,000 miles up its own arse. https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/gerry

on paper it seems like a good idea, let down by a complete wank script and stortyline.

Quest for the Mighty Sword.

https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0100448/

Like a low budget Conan the Barbarian (and Conan looked pretty low budget to start with). The fact that I can remember its name 30 years on is a testament to how shit it was.

I thought that was wonderful the first the I saw it.
