Title: Shaaaaaaakespeare

Getcha culture on. Paapa Essiedu's Hamlet is on iPlayer for the next four months, and it's SO FUCKING GOOD:

He's the best Hamlet I've ever seen (okay, joint first with Simon Russell Beale, but still). I was lucky enough to see the production live when it was on tour and he's electrifying.

Part of a collection of Shakespeares up on the Beeb, lots of RSC and Globe stuff -- haven't watched most of them yet but the Eccleston/Cusack Macbeth is very good too:

The Globe is sticking productions up on its YouTube channel (new one each fortnight):

And there are some showing up in the National's YouTube rotation -- Anthony & Cleopatra with Sophie Okonedo and Ralph Fiennes goes up on the 7th of May.

Watched the Macbeth last week and really enjoyed it; worth sticking the subtitles on so you can follow the words as well as the speech.

Pffft, never mind that, what about the fact that he fixes a plot hole in "Hamlet" by means of OFFSTAGE PIRATES?  Fucking hack.

Nobody ever wants to talk about the OFFSTAGE PIRATES.
