Anybody know what the Churnet is looking like for this weekend? Has the rock finally succumbed to the rubbish rubbish weather or will it yet offer sanctuary from all this rain? In fact, does it ever get wet? Any local's knowledge would be greatly appreciated. Ta!

was in v.g. condit last weekend. Wrights rock is almost always dry, even during that spate of terrible weather a month or so ago most of the problems were still bone, which accounts in part for the horrendous chalkiness of the place.
Ousal is usually dry even after sustained bad weather and gentlemans does seep a bit.
-
both times i've been there the left 3rd of the ousal traverses have been drenched, so i wouldn't put all your eggs in the ousal basket in bad weather.
-
Ina's rock seems permanently dry. There was even a massive downpour last time I was at the crag and it seemed to magically stop 2m around the base of the crag. None of the climbing got wet.
-
The first time I went to the churnet I saw the ousal go from bone dry to drenched in a very short period of time, after days of bad weather. I guess there's always a lottery element to finding conditions in poor weather.
-
Has anyone been to wrights rock recently?
thinking of going on the traverse at the weekend & was wondering if it was dry at the moment.
-
wrights was a bit damp last sunday. There was condensation on the pebbles. Although I think there's always stuff that can be done. The base was also getting a bit greener.

-
Anyone been out in the Churnet in the past few days? If so, how damp and green is it?
Thanks.
-
I'd be keen for a trip there, when are you thinking of going Ben?
-
I was at gentleman's, cottage and ousal at the weekend - most things are dry.
-

Nice one, thanks.
I'd be keen for a trip there, when are you thinking of going Ben?
Dunno really Andi, it was more checking to see how dry it was in case we got fogged off at the Roaches last weekend. However, the thought is still there in case its damp up on the grit this saturday. Have you been to the Churnet before? If you haven't we'll have to sort a visit out some time, maybe next year now though, unless conditions dictate it for this weekend.
-
No i've never been but Wright's Rock looks amazing and the other things in that area look pretty cool too. I wish I could make it this weekend but I've got to work! Have fun at the Roaches!
-
Cheers Andi. Churnet is well cool to be honest, with a variety of stuff hidden in the trees. Let me and the other scouse contingent know if you're thinking of heading that way and we'll try to hook up.
-
The Churnet was in the best nick I've ever seen it yesterday. Chilly like...
-
How where the roads down Fatneck, thinking of heading down from Manchester.
-
Roads down were fine. Not sure how'll they'll be after tonight like. Pretty grim in the 'Pool ice wise at the moment...
-
The Churnet was in the best nick I've ever seen it yesterday. Chilly like...
It was perfect, not chilly :great: My first visit and I was well impressed. The new additions were good, got to get back on them.
-
Anyone been down today(28/12)?? got a few days off this week and the weather is looking to be not to good around the roaches. cheers
-
I was out on boxing day. Ousal crag was all dry. Bizarre was wet and bit's of Wright's rock were wet as well.
-
Anyone been in the last few days, any seepage problems of note?
-
Ive just got back from there... AWESOME. All dry and conditions are spot on
-
Cheers :great: Should be mint tomorrow
-
Psyched!
-
Handwarmer in the chalk-bag and a full thermos...beautiful
-
Wrights and Cottage in good nick, but the snowfall meant an early dart to avoid benightment :o
-
Crisp as today at Wrights.
-
Anyone been recently?
-
Wright's was all dry today, but conditions weren't ideal due to the moisture in the air. Roads down were fine as well.
-
Anyone been down the Valley this w/end?
-
I was down yesterday, cottage was dry, ousal low had a couple of wet streaks (the top traverse was wet), gentlemans was wet. Didn't go to wrights but heard it too was wet. Carpark was like a skating rink!
-
Has anyone been down this week? Is it drying up?
-
Once again! Has anyone been down this week? Last weekend was great conditions at wrights but guessing there will be a fair amount of seepage by now.
-
..what he said..? Cheers
-
Went down on wednesday, rock was fine at gentlemans/wrights/cottage. However it kacked it down wiv snow all day so whether this is gonna start off sum seepin as it melts i dunno.
-
How are Wright's, Gentleman's and Ousal holding up during this rain? Anyone been down this week?
-
Wright's was in good nick today as well as all the buttresses left of it. Bit green on top of a few things like the Breathe block. Duck Billed platypus roof was dry too (Cool problems if you've not already done them?). Cottage also dry all over.
Got quite humid later, then we were attacked by flies... then it pissed down so we bailed.
-
Anyone been down gentlemans in the last couple of days? Everything bar the right hand bit was piss wet on monday n just wondering if it will have dryed up a bit.
-
thinking of going tonight this eve.. anyone been yesterday/early today? Ina's was the plan.
-
It was raining in the area earlier today but Ina's may be ok. I'm thinking of popping down later today too but I think I'll head up to Wright's, Gentleman's or Ousal depending on conditions. I'm not expecting much but you never know.
-
pretty mint lastnight
-
It was wasn't it! I was quite surprised to be honest. I was down at Pine / Cottage and the sun was shining down through the trees, the birds were singing and it was actually like a summers day. Quite a contrast from the mornings rain. Beautiful.
-
Anyone been down?
-
Was down gentleman's today in the afternoon. Was dry all across though it did rain pretty hard so stuff might be seeping tomorrow.
-
cheers, may chance it.
-
Anyone been down this week?
-
I have. It was condensationy wet two days ago. I imagine the deluge today has written it off for this weekend at least. :'(
-
Thanks
I have. It was condensationy wet two days ago. I imagine the deluge today has written it off for this weekend at least. :'(
Bugger, change of plans required then! Cheers for the info.
-
Any reports on conditions from the last couple of days? Thinking of heading down on saturday. Particularly interested in the roads, my knackered old corsa doesn't deal with snow very well. Cheers.
-
Was at Ina's yesterday and all the roads around there were fine and mostly clear.
-
Thanks for that JC, is there a lot of snow over that way? Just trying to work out if the other crags are likely to be OK.
-
Cheers JC, at least got Ina's as a back up if the red road is bad.
-
Has anyone been over this way recently? Hoping to check it out on sunday in an optimistic quest for dryness.
Cheers
-
Went down there on Wednesday, Cottage, and Ousal were fine, though Gentleman's was little damp. Given the forecast it should be okay (lap of Gods etc.....).
-
wintermute, Any chance you can post what you find sunday please, hoping for a Monday visit myself. cheers
-
Didn't get to the Churnet in the end i'm afraid. Ended up at Cratcliffe. If anyone is interested, RHS was frosty on the tops of most stuff but Rowtor and Cratcliffe were mint.
-
Everything sopping down the churnet today.
-
Any chance that the Churnet has dried out a little yet? Hoping to get there on the weekend. Thanks!
Al
-
I was at Gentleman's Rock today and it seemed to be mostly free of condensation but overnight rain had caused a lot of run-off on the right hand side of the crag; on the rock to the right of the Gentleman John crack there was seepage on most of the upper bit (ie. you couldn't really climb High Speed Imp Act or The Nose). Apart from that though the rest of the crag was mostly dry/dryable with the stepladder.
-
Excellent, thanks! Will make the trip down then and bring my towel, just in case.
Al
-
Anyone been this week?
-
Wright's was drenched today. Not a single dry problem, or even hold.
-
Thanks for posting the update - I was thinking it might be a possibilty tomorrow.
-
I can't really see it improving much by tomorrow. It was in reasonable wind, but still dripping from every overhang by mid afternoon. The wind just didn't seem to be cutting through the moisture. It was noticeably warm so I guess it was condensing faster than it was drying.
-
Everything was soaked on wens but reckon stuff will be drying out well now with the windy weather and forecast to stay dry
-
Anyone been down recently?
-
Just been down today and it's grim.
Ousal/Cottage are horrible and damp and Wright's is condensed out and dripping - total write-off.
Bugger >:(
-
Thanks for that, had planned to head down this weekend but sounds unlikely now.
-
I think it's probably the warm humid air and cold rock. Having said that it's reasonably windy here in Derby, so if it stays dry for the next couple of days it might be fine by the weekend (Ousal was only a bit damp but Wright's was sopping). If I'm out that way again tomorrow I'll report back.
-
That would be good, cheers
-
Anyone been recently, wondering about chances of dryness for tomorrow.
-
Temps and humidity dropped right off today. I'm not a Churnet expert but I'd say its a good bet.
Edit: just seen a forecast - wet and milder tomorrow. I dunno now, but I daresay its a god a bet as anywhere else.
-
Nice one, cheers.
-
Nice one, cheers.
Did you head down? How was it?
-
Wright's was basically dry yesterday (friday) afternoon. A little soapy and the routes/topouts were damp but nothing disasterous. It rained yesterday night though so no idea what that's done to it.
-
Cheers. Went down there myself yesterday (sat). Finishes to many problems were dripping but still plenty to do.
Some twat has put large donkey marks on a couple of the problems up at wrights making it look worse than usual. Its lucky the crag cant be seen clearly from the path. Tried to remove what I could but didn't make much of a dent in the problem.
-
How likely is it to be buggered tomorrow? Forecast looks good at the moment.
-
Would guess there will be a similar amount of stuff to do, unless temps suddenly change. Churnet often seems an odd one to predict conditions, especially crags like ousal. I've rarely been when there's nothing dry. I'd give it a go...
-
If there wasn't going to be any wind I'd say no chance. Bit of a breeze and drop in temps maybe. Might take a look myself, as its on the way to the Stoke wall.
-

I saw that, just a little bit OTT. I forgot my brush unfortunately so couldn't remove them.
Has anyone been down this week yet? Thinking of getting out tomorow or friday.
-
Does anyone know what the Pride is like at the min?
This is one the best micro-routes I have cum accross, yes it is that good! ;D Was thinking to show some friends from the North West around.
Was planning on Ina's for Thumbelina and then over the road for the Pride!
-
Anyone been down in the last few days?
-
Gentlemans was dry yesterday, as was Ousal. Didn't go anywhere else.
-
Anyone been today? Owt dry for tomorrow?
-
As above really, any clues as to what the seepage will be like on thursday? The forecast says sunny but theres a bit of rain forecast between now and then.
-
Anyone know what state the crags are in? I could do with visiting all of them one day this weekend, ideally... Ta.
-
Popped over there yesterday morning- small bits of Ousel traverse starting to dry, otherwise hopeless. BUT, the sun was strong, so may have improved a fair bit by evening, and it's been fairly dry over here (shrops/staffs border) today so possible for the weekend?
-
Wrights and Gentleman's were both sopping friday afternoon. Didn't seem like much hope of drying, was humid and damp but it's been windy today so who knows what they'll be like tomorrow.
-
Anyone been down today/yesterday...? Ta.
-
Think Kim/ your bro? were down yesterday. Damp on top at Wrights...
-
hoping to head over to the churnet tomorrow after a failed trip last thurs (soaked!) if anyone could post an update on the condition of wright's rock today that would be great :)
-
Anyone been down wrights/gentlemans today?
-
Wrights was pretty much fine yesterday, and gentlemans almost ok, but bits of damp.
-
Ace cheers man.
-
Anyone been down this weekend? Ta.
-
We were there on Saturday in the rain. Most of Gentleman's was dry with just some damp on the top sloper of the Nose. Some of Wrights was dry (eg Rocket Ride and Wrights Unconquerable) although quite a few problems on the main section had damp holds. These would have dried on Sunday and today. That cool steep 7a arete on a bit of rock thats a pain to get to was wet but will have dried yesterday and today. I cant remember its name!
Didnt go anywhere else.
-
It was all looking good yesterday, Gentleman's was in pretty much primo nick.
-
Anyone been down this week after the recent rain? Particularly Wright's?
-
Any news on recent conditions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
-
Great at Ousal and Wright's last night. I'd imagine most crags will be fine. Have fun!
-
Thinking of heading to Churnet for the first time this weekend, anyone know how it is holding out under the fairly heavy showers we have been having?
-
Just got back from Wright's - despite a few days of intermittent heavy showers and some prolonged rain this morning it was mint - no seepage at all, humidity blown off by a cool breeze... enjoy
-
Thanks for the info, seems nice today so lets hope it stays that way until tomorrow!
-
Has anyone been down today (or recently)?
-
It will be fine :)
Probably see you down there if you're heading down today.
-
I walked the dogs down there yesterday, it was as wet as it gets. The churnet doesn't like humid, it draws the moisture out of its pores.
-
Was indeed thoroughly wet on Saturday. Looked good though, excited to get back when it's drier and at least I now know some of the approaches.
-
Cheers for the info guys. Decided it probably would be wet so headed elsewhere.
-
Did anyone go down yesterday?
-
Was there yesterday and it was ridiculously humid. All cottage rock was dry as was wrights but it absolutely banged it down and it was apparently starting to run down the headwall at wrights. It was pretty windy though so may be fine.
-
Cheers for the reply, may give it a go
-
Has anyone been down in the last couple of days?
Im hoping to get to Wrights this Sat, can anyone tell me if its seeping?
-
What conditions Churnet at the mo?
-
Wrights was all dry today.
-
Excellent. Cheers chap.
-
Anyone know how the Churnet is holding out in the current crap weather?
-
anyone been recently? thinking of heading down tomorrow. alton towers forecast is good so hopefully be ok.
-
wrights and gentlemens rocks both bone dry and the busiest ive ever seen them today.
-
Wrights rock seems to have escaped the worst of the weather. Mint conditions today!
-
Churnet was OK today, a few damp areas, but was suffering a lot from snow melt affecting the top holds above the lip at Gentlemen's . Didn't head up there but was told Wrights about the same.
Cheers
-
good bet for tomorrow? due to be a bit damp in the night/morning. how much seepage is there?
-
any one been up recently - really appreciate knowing if wet or not - gonna be driving a long way!
-
I would guess that it is proper wet. I live in Macc and its been torrential rain all day. Can't believe its much different just down the road.
-
Been torrential in Buxton all day too (Hi Andy!) I deffo would travel far to go have a look down the churnizzle.
-
Bits were dry yesterday but I live 10 mins away and it's been raining all last night and all day today. There might be a couple of the deeper roofs dry but there won't be much. I'd go elsewhere!
-
Anyone got any idea how wrights is holding out at the moment? Hoping to get out early on tomorrow and was thinking this may be a possibility.
-
ina's rock was gorgeous today. also looked at ousal (all dry) and bizarre (slightly damp, avoided)
-
wrights rocks dry tomorrow? forecast for night not great.
-
Anyone been down the Churnet more recently? What are the chances of anything being dry tomorrow? Thinking Wrights ideally.
-
Wrights will be fine this w/end
-
Wrights will be fine this w/end
Spot on cheers. Had a decent day.
-
Anyone Know if Churnet is holding out from the rain offering the chance of some dry rock this weekend?
-
Saw that ethan and tallsopp were down at wrights and gents yesterday, has rained alot since them though
-
Was here Sunday, mostly dry and in good condition, a couple of wet holds dotted about.
-
There today 26th Jan, it was gopping :fishing: every wall was soaking, not a dry hold in sight!! Including wrights and gentlemans. Think it will take a good day or so to dry out!!
Had a good session at Awesome walls instead, it was dry there, and they had just put up some new problems!
-
Thanks for posting, had thought about heading down tomorrow but you have saved me a trip!
-
I was down there today. Didn't see anybody else so guess Blakey meant yesterday? anyway Wrights is pretty grim though the traverse is still ok minus the end up bit[ though there are large puddles under sections of it]. Gentlemans is fine but all the finishing holds - the nose / impact are all wet.
Cheers
-
Anyone been near Churnet recently? Whats the chances of dryness on Gentlemans by the weekend?
-
Anyone been today? Thinking of the Wrights area.
Thanks
-
Ousal Dale was fine 'til about 4 today when it started getting misty and damp. Really muddy/ snowy underfoot.
-
most stuff was wet yesterday, probably not worth the trip
-
anyone been down the churnet today? has it started to dry yet?
cheers
-
Does anyone have any recent updates? thinking of heading down tomorrow.
-
There today, mostly dry but with the odd damp hold, guessing it will only improve for tomorrow if it stays dry..
-
Gopping, nothing in either at wrights or gentlemens, not even sections of the traverses. If it stays this calm and warm its unlikely to be much better for a couple of days.
-
Anyone been down in last couple of days? Brightening up in surrounding areas.
-
Has anyone been this week?
-
Gentleman's wall and cottage rocks were bone dry today.
-
Cheers. Wrong choice for me today then!
-
Wrights and Gentleman's in good nick today.
-
Anyone know what it's like at the moment and if it's likely to be ok at the weekend
-
Everything at wrights seems dry. there was a brief shower at 10:30 , but there's a good breeze and it now looking good.
-
Anyone been recently - gaggin to get down there - well nice on a sunny day.
-
I would guess it will be all good :)
-
Most things suffering from condensation last night. We decided not to bother and lounged around in the sun instead.
-
if anyone does venture out to churnet over next couple of days could they please please please write an update. many thanks.
-
A mate of mine went last night and reported back saying thats its gopping down there.
-
went there yesterday and just went to Wright's Rock - has all bone dry.
-
Pretty good conditions today
-
Has anyone been recently? Dry?
-
Any updates?
-
Gentleman's was pretty much all dry today apart from the problem left of electrofly. Cottage rocks was surprisingly dry as well.
-
Cheers for that.
-
Has anyone been recently? was hoping to get out tomorrow and in search of something dry.
-
Gentleman's is always a safe bet.
-
The low shelf on gentlemans is damp but the rest seems dry. wrights has the odd run off here and there, but plenty to play on.
-
Ousal also dry.
-
Is Gentlemans still dry?
-
How fast does stuff here dry? Is it worth going if it's been raining earlier in the day (but otherwise warm as it has been lately) or the day before?
-
It mostly depends on wind, overnight mist and daytime humidity. It's the sort of place that will crap out with condensation in the way typically seen on steep limestone. Wrights is more open than say Gentlemans and condensation will dry quicker. Generally though rain of itself isn't a big problem, odd bits do suffer run-off but much is too steep to be affected.
-
Gentlemans and Wrights both soaking yesterday!!!
-
bummer - was hoping to pop down there this weekend - anyone been there more recently?
-
Anyone been over the weekend? Wondering if it's worth a trip after work this evening?
Thanks
-
Anyone been to Wrights recently? Hoping to go there tomorrow.
Cheers
Tim
-
hoping to get over to the churnet later today now the weather seems to have settled down a bit...any info on dryness etc would be appreciated :)
-
Was up at Wrights today, slightly damp and muddy on walk up there but crag was fine... tip top conditions
-
Bad on Saturday. Apart from a few holds at cottage above head height everything else; wrights, ousal, gentlemens, virgin wall was gopping and 'snapable'
Also 'chemical spraying , no access permitted' signs up around Gentlemen's including on the path up to it . Not sure how long these will be up for but seems to be a lot of logging going on in that area.
Ta
-
Has gentlemans dried out yet? I was there last week and it was still minging. forestry bloke said it was ok to go up there even if signs were still there
-
Great conditions on saturday 15th, Wright's actually perfect, Gentlemans really good also.
-
Was at Wright's today, and it was mostly dry. The holds on the second half of the traverse seemed to develop a small amount of grease of their own accord.
-
Anyone been recently / like to hazard a guess what it will be like tomorrow? Wet?
-
Ayone know what the churnet dryneww situation is looking like in the current weather?
-
We were at Ina's today, most of Thumbelina was dry but snow had blown in on to the ledge. Also worthy of note, there was a huge (maybe 50cm deep and 1mx2m area) hole opened up right underneath most of the problem, probably due to ground collapse as the roots of the old tree have rotted or something. Someone might put some photos up later. Anyway we filled it all in with a mix of stones and wood then leaves over the top, the landing is fine again right now but it will gradually lower again as the wood rots.
Did anyone get out anywhere else eg Wrights or Gents, how much is dry?
Ta
-
Sounds weird! Anyone get a photo. Could it be manmade?
-
Didn't look man-made no. A mate took a photo, hopefully he'll put it up at some point.
-
Spoke to someone who had been at wrights said it was dry gents would have been too im sure
-
Any info on the approach roads to the main carpark?
-
Approach to the main carpark should be fine its usually gritted a bit but after the snow forecast tonight might be tricky but i think doable
-
More? importantly, is there much chance of anything being dry? Would be interested in Simple Simon / Bizarre specifically.
Cheers
-
Don't know about those problems but Gents was largely dry today. However access was a problem, both usual car parks were under 6 inches+ of snow, we had to park off-piste somewhere and walk in about 45 minutes through the snow (thanks to Nan's local knowledge!) However this snow will mostly be gone by tomorrow night I reckon.
-
Hmmm, I probably made a good call by not going then. I definitely don't have local knowledge, cheers for the update.
-
Any thoughts welcome. Is it worth a punt at Wrights or Ousal tomorrow or is it a waste of time?
-
Anybody get down the Churnet today? So wet in the west peak didn't bother with the drive.
Cheers
-
How's it looking? Coming up Sunday so hoping it will be in condition. Mainly interested in Wrights Rock but I'm bringing a mate who's never been so it'd be rude not to send him up high speed imp act!
-
Wrights was all good on Mon. Landings still a little muddy but should be fine by Sat.
-
Anyone been recently have any thoughts on whether it's worth a shot tomorrow? Not been before, was thinking of wrights?
And how are the roads thereabouts at the moment?
-
Its been raining/snowing all around the peak for a few days before I left Derby on Friday morning.
Being softer sandstone, if you get anything done on the overhanging wrights rock; the rock may be in soft and brittle condition.
I would probably give Churnet a miss tomorrow.
-
The snow and drift have been pretty grim around these parts, and I know Alton was shut off for a while today. Might have been ploughed by now, but no guarantee access is clear. Could ring Ramblers Retreat for an update?
-
Cheers gents, sounds like its less than ideal timing for a first visit, think I'll save it for another day.
-
Drove down the Red Road today - it's fine as it's sheltered, so none of the drifting thats affected the rest of the region - didn't check any rock though; suspect a lot is in.
-
Any info on anything around gentlemans area? Is there still a lot of snow there?
-
Went to Wright's this morn, very dry and very sticky. When its this cold any moisture present within the rock stays deep within. No where near as much snow as the main peak venues. I would say Gents would be in good nick.
I'll be back there myself tomorrow.
-
Any updates greatly received....
-
Any one been recently - was thinking of visiting tomorrow?
-
Any chance it will be dry on Monday after today's downpours....
-
Bump
-
Bump?
-
Gentleman's rock was all dry this evening
-
cottage rocks bone dry moday
-
How long does it take the Virgin wall to get wet, and how fast does it dry?
-
Any idea if its worth heading down tomorrow (Friday) or Saturday?
-
Pretty sure the safe bet options such ad wrights, gents or cottage will be fine. Wouldn't be so sure about some other bits.
-
Bit of a long shot but.................any ideas if anywhere will be dry tomorrow or Sunday?
-
Wrights had run off (fingers soaked) but otherwise dry on rock tho ground wet. Gents in decent nick apparently.
-
Anyone know if Wrights or Gents are dry at the moment please? If so, are they ok to climb at in the rain?
-
Was there last weekend in the rain. Most things were dry. Ground was very muddy in places though
-
Anyone know if Wright's is dry at the moment?
-
Anyone know if Wright's is dry at the moment? Any recent reports hugely appreciated, cheers
-
If anyone goes today, could they let me know how it is? Ta
-
Anyone been down recently? Anything dry? Thanks in advance.
-
I think Cofe might have been there today - but may have mistaken my twitter reading...
-
For anyone that's interested, went down today and gentlemans, wrights, etc. were all bone dry. Damn cold in the wind though!
-
Is anything in the Churnet likely to be in tomorrow (Sat)?
-
I haven't been recently, but a friend was telling me last night that he'd been up and was working on Warchild the other day. He and a few others are heading back to Wrights this weekend, so I'd assume it to be dry.
Should be quite a safe bet given the possibility of a few showers too.
-
Has anyone been up recently. Think it will be decent friday?
-
Anyone been since my last post?
-
Was there on Saturday at Ousal crag/ cottage rock which were both in good nick.
-
Cheers :) now I just need to decided if I brave the Alton towers traffic or risk climbing somewhere that might not be dry...
-
If anyone has an updates at all they would be gratefully received. thank you.
-
I know folk were at Mirf's less than a week back and it was fine under the roof (top was wet due to it being raining). With the weather we've had I'd have thought all the crags there would be climbable atm.
-
Was at mirfs yesterday and its all bone dry and top clean. Great problems
-
Anyone have any up to date conditions on Mirf's Roof??
-
Would really appreciate it if anyone has any idea whether Mirf's Roof might be dry. Thank you.
-
Saw a mate at the wall yesterday who said it was dry Wednesday if that's any use?
-
Thank you - just contemplating if worth the risk driving from Sheff.
-
Any idea hows its holding up to the rain?
-
Any one been recently?
-
Wright's was pretty much condensed out yesterday. Gentleman's was a bit better with some problems dry. Virgin wall was fine.
-
Was thinking of visiting tomorrow... Haven't been before so don't know what it's like when the weather's bad... Looks like it's going to be raining and I know it's rained recently? Anyone know if it's worth it? In particular wrights rock...
-
Any one got an update?
-
I was Churnet rambling on Tuesday this week. From memory weather had been dry all day Monday and Tuesday was okay, no morning fog. I didn't go to any main venues so can't comment on Wrights etc. but did check out the stuff around Breathe/Grasshopper which was all a bit damp. I did manage to find some more obscure dry venues but wouldn't put money on them being dry tomorrow.
Not sure how helpful that is.
I might be back next Tuesday so any updates from the weekend would be appreciated.
-
Went to the following today and they were all very wet: Gardoms, Stoney, Blackwell, Burbage, Raven tor and Churnet.
-
Wet today at Wrights Rock
-
Also wet at Ina's and Rock and Gentleman's Rock... Rocket Ride at Wright's was dry... very poor driving/walking to climbing ratio today...
-
Anyone been recently?
-
Anyone have any idea how Wrights might be tomorrow? It's about the only place I can think of that might be worth a shot.
There as much snow down that way as there is in Sheffield?
-
Leek looks fairly clear:
-
It does indeed and temps are supposed to stay cold tomorrow so maybe it will be ok.
-
No snow stuck in Derby either. Good chance of there being none in the churner.

There is snow here but not too much - local roads all in good condition - it's quite wet snow tho so prob some seepage at the crags..

Cheers. Think we may still risk Wrights.

If anyone has an updates at all they would be gratefully received - am thinking about poppin down there this weekend - but due to rain overnight I think.

Im heading out that way early tomorrow morning. There should be plenty of stuff dry. Is there anything/anywhere specific? . I can post up an update if I can get a phone signal.

Ah that would be great if you could! Was contemplating doing Mirf's roof again.
-
Discrete and Grasshopper blocks dry first thing.. I don't think the overnight rain was too heavy.
-
Any updates anyone? Be much appreciated if you have been this way recently. Thank you.

It's shit mert, peak limestone is where it's at this weekend apparently.

Wright's and Gentlemans both dry today. Been caught stealing sloper dry too, which is a good measure of general seapage.
Very still and humid tho.

I’ve not climbed at all here before - a couple of dry days permitting is the rock climb able at this of year?
Older posts seem to suggest it’s often fine even when it’s been raining but I’m also aware it’s sandstone so thought I should check...?
Thanks in advance!
