Heard from the TCA shop that the Dragon is being discontinued. Makes sense with the popularity of the Hiangle. Does anyone know if this is true?
-
Yes, I've heard this elsewhere.
Apparently there is a new version of the dragons on the way but there will no doubt be the usual gap of a year or two where neither version is available.
-
Interesting, didn't know that. It will be interesting to see how much they change the design vs. the amount they'll inevitably go up in price.
-
It seems to be the 5.10 way, they discontinue a shoe, 'improve it', and then it returns at an inflated price point with dubious imrpovements. What they seem to miss, is that during the outage, people try other brands and find they really quite like them.
I believe there are two versions (Velcro / lace) returning.
-
Makes sense...
No, nothing five ten does makes any kind of sense
-
Ha! Very true.
-
i heard Adidas were stopping making 5.10 altogether
-
I heard the Dragon was being dropped, then a velcro one would replace it in the near future.

Thought a Velcro dragon was a Team.
-
Team is softer, 1mm thinner sole.
Wonder if the discontinuing could be as a result of change they made to the rand a year or so ago (when switching to the red 5.10 logo on the tongue) where I think they used less rubber which I think makes them lose their shape faster. Several people I know prefered the older black and white logo version.

New Dragon prototypes?

That shoe looks like a Dragon but is an Evolve.
-
So it is. For some reason I though she's switched to 5.10.
-
I guess they must be going to get rid of them soon...... Just been on Five Ten website and the Dragon are no longer on there (not that I can see, anyway)!
-
No sign of the new anasazi vcs (with the toe rubber patch) either??

For those interested, a friend just sent me this. Apparently they'll be available Spring 2019.
The change the colour theory seems to have been correct...
-
Hmm. They could have at least attempted to keep something of the classic look they had.
-
They never fitted me anyway, but that heel looks completely different to me.
-
FFS

I think these were designed by Fred, and the last shoe he designed was the Jet7 so I’m holding some hope.
Looks like it might say Adidas on the red heel tab too?
-
Definitely

I'm on my third pair now, and really don't like my most recent pair - I'm not totally sure but the toe box geometry seems different to the previous versions and I'm not a "front on" as they used to be. I don't seem to be able to get as much force directly down the big toe as my old ones.
Hope the new improved Dragons so back to the way they were in this respect.
-
The newest iterations, whilst looking cosmetically similar, have a lot softer midsole and (I think) thinner rubber than the older models, which has lead to a distinct loss of big toe power.
-
Aha, probably explains it - it feels like they're bending my feel a bit more so they're more "grabby", but not as confidence-inspiring when you're rocking over on a crucial pebble or screw-on.
I'll clearly end up getting a pair of the new ones, purely as they'll look sick with a pair of bleached out denim jeans.
