Had a touch of some of the easier holds today whilst bolt clipping, but couldn't remember what went where from the video. Looks like fun climbing through the roof on those pods.

bouldering / Re: Norway
« Last post by jwi on Today at 05:38:51 pm »
There should be tons of bouldering everywhere. From general knowledge, more around Bergen/Stavanger than around Oslo perhaps? (I've never been that far south in Norway)

Anyway, around Bergen: https://bergenklatreklubb.no/buldring-i-bergen/
around Stavanger https://buldreinfo.com/browse

Thought I'd resurrect this thread rather than start a new one.

I'm going for a general exploring campervan trip Oslo -> Bergen -> Stavanger -> Oslo in a few weeks' time.

I've been given 2 passes for 'some bouldering, please pick a nice place and not some awful cave'...

Does anyone have any knowledge on the bouldering in that area? I'd be looking for an area or two along that route with a handful of decent problems up to 7Bish. I probably won't have a huge pad. Doesn't seem to be much info only but looks like there could be absolutely loads of bouldering.

thanks in advance.

abroad / Fontainebleau fires - copied from other channel
« Last post by i.munro on Today at 02:21:18 pm »
Fontainebleau several forest fires this week- please do not smoke, light any kind of fire in the forest and adjacent areas.

As it is unlikely to be reported by many outside of France, I am posting in this forum. This week alone, there were several forest fires in Fontainebleau forest. On Sunday the 28th May 4.5 hectare of the forest (equivalent to 7+ football pitches) in Apremont which needed 34 fire engines and nearly 80 fire fighters to control the flame.

As a result of the fire in Apremont, the area of Apremont Envers is closed for access following the fire (shown in grey on the map). https://www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=668849638573276&set=pb.100063447386443.-2207520000. (original post by La tribune libre de Bleau et d'ailleurs on Facebook)

In addition to the fire mentioned in the above article, another fire started yesterday in Trois Pignons between Rocher de Souris and Rocher de Chambergot, still to be extinguished. https://actu.fr/ile-de-france/noisy-sur-ecole_77339/pres-de-fontainebleau-7-500-m2-de-foret-partent-en-fumee-dans-le-massif-des-trois-pignons_59683838.html

The prefecture of Seine et Marne, where the majority of the major climbing areas are located, issued an order to ban smoking and throwing away cigarette butts. Lighting any kind of fire, including camping stoves, in the forest and adjacent areas is also strictly forbidden. The prefecture’s order also forbids bivouacking/ camping in the forest apart from authorised camp/bivouac sites. Furthermore, it also asks people to report any suspicious behavious to the Gendarmerie and the Police
https://www.seine-et-marne.gouv.fr/Actualites/Prevention-des-incendies

After two consecutive very dry summers and winters, the local communities are very wary of the heightened risk of forest fires and wish all visitors to respect the no fire / no bivouacking rules in the forest.

This is barely worth documenting other than for the fact it looked the most obvious way of getting out of the right side of the roof,  there are holds below but just a bit dirtier than the left side,  still decent rock quality.

I think these are the first described things. I think everyone who's climbed on the south wall has eyed the pods in the roof but I'm not aware of anyone having taken pads in before.

Did you have to do much cleaning, Tim?
For the harder one a bit, but just that horrible grey dust you get on limestone, I hardly had to clean the easier one. I dont think a single hold broke, the rock is really good quality in that bit of the roof.  The other side of the cave is less steep and a bit higher, there is loads of potential there I think.

They both look great, going to try and get up there one night this week whilst they’re dry.
