Duncan's post the other day does seem to have been premature. But sadly, Jim Bridwell has now died, earlier today:

That photo with Long and Westbay in front of the Nose.... as a kid that just made me dream of impossible things, they were something else. And Westbay’s article just made the myth even bigger.

Another legend has gone. He was indeed an iconic figure that connected generations and had a huge influence on the art of the possible.
