What do you think is best best style/styles of music for bouldering vids? and what is the best track you have ever herd on a bouldering vid?
-
There's too much rap at the moment in boulderin vids and the vast majority is terrible. Best track i think i heard was on dosage vol 1, the the reggea one when he's tryin realisation first time round.
-
DJ Shadow on West Coast Pimp is good, but I'm a big fan anyway.
-
how about some full on RAWK a la Masters Of Stone IV?
don't get enough of that in bouldering vids IMHO
My fave either the chilled guitar stuff in Bleau, or the weird home-made-sounding brain mash techno in http:bloc...
-
quite liked the one in rampage that's on when some guy's doing wifebeater
-
orange sky by alexi muchdoch on pilgrimage is cool
i also like the cover of wish you were here at the end of freqent flyers
-
The Mr.Fantastic track on stick it is cool, also the track on rampage when sharma is at the x-games and the opening track on the real thing.
There is alot of hip hop in vids at the mo but what would be a good alternative? things like green day and qotsa wouldn't really fit.
-
Yeah, I like that Mr Fantastic track.
What's wrong with hip hop in vids?
-
Another vote for the Mr Fantastic track, definitely my favourite. Think that backpacker hip hop style fits in well with bouldering. Also like Jason Kehl's track on dosage, and the hopefully ironic use of Unforgiven II for the Dan Osman section on Masters of Stone.
Also got to mention the song on the Bowderstone section of Stick It, think it works really well with the slo mo editting.
-
the bo track on the wifebeater bit on rampage is called "willie on glock" by don scavone and is reyt good. Also the moodswingaz "black on you" from Bring the ruckus on dosage is uber-bo.
Theres some ill music on klem's CATLOHP dvd, particulary when he's working emotional landscapes. Also some good tracks on consumed and the ape-index consumed vid, like that cylob rewind, root manuva witness, and squarepusher my red hot car/cock.
-
What y'all mean is Money shot by Doyen D. defo the best track. reckon it works cos its hip hop from the northern terraces rather than from the niggaz on the block. with glocks. you wanna get the 12" with the dirty version on it.
bottom of the pile is the warp stuff on one summer - you've gotta keep the energy up. though the rawk on masters of stone is going too far. not a fan of the cheesy house on real thing either.
-
I rate Squarepusher.
Yeah, cheesy house is nasty.
-
Don't get me wrong, I rate the warp stuff, its just that combining it with bent spoon endlessly failing on a shit eliminate at minus ten sends me to sleep.
-
Hip Hop in vids is cool
how about the German track on no comment when the bockster is climbing! that rocks!
thumbs up for willie on glock (which IMO sounds like Cypress Hill) and kehl's track on dosage 1
-
im not a mega hip hop fan but...roots manova, swollen members that sort of ting tune by them that tune that has 24-7-365 as the corus would make a great vid track.
i would be more keen also for a good mix. skate and snowboard vids seem to have this down. hip hop, slayer etc... one vid ive got even has walking on sunshine on it - it works.
-
recent skate vids and boarding vids do tend to have great tracks but they suit the flowing action. lost my thread...err. if the cap fits or summert? fuck.
-
Who's that Mr Fantastic track by, anyone know?
Sorry, I'm being too lazy to dig out my copy of Stick It.
