Title: Wanted: Zillertal Sport Guide
Post by: remus on April 10, 2018, 10:37:44 am
Anyone got a copy of a Zillertal guide they'd be willing to part with? Been looking for this but it seems to be out of stock everywhere https://www.needlesports.com/33374/products/zillertal-climbing-and-bouldering.aspx

This may be a bit of a long shot, but if you're travelling via Munich I could either lend you the previous (2011) edition or try to borrow the 2014 one from the DAV library.

I've a copy which I'd like to keep - I picked it up in a shop out there after being rained off a few other locations. However you'd be welcome to borrow it if you don't find a copy, though it's at my parents in Cumbria so if they can't send it then it'll be a month or so until I'm back home to collect it.

I'm sure I saw it last week whilst staying in Keswick in Needlesports. Might be worth giving them a bell in case the system isn't up to date.

Failing that The Depot Leeds has one in stock (I just phoned to check as I've seen it there plenty of times) but it's not listed online. Might be able to organise something through them. I'm normally up there a few times each week but currently avoiding it due to injury or I'd pick one up for you. Plenty of this parish who frequent it though so sure someone could pick it up if you're not local.

Thanks all :)

Muenchener, as it happens we're going to be going via the Frankenjura so could potentially stop off in Munich, I'll check out some of James' leads first though to see if I can get my hands on my own copy.

If you get stuck and the Depot will put the guide aside, it's only a 10 min drive from me so could swing by and post it this weekend.

I dropped you a PM on here James, not sure if the PMs are still playing up on here so let me know if it hasn't gone through.

Remus, is it specifically that guide you want? I think there are others (I certainly own a different one), including an Austria select guide.

It's the main area Im interested in but not averse to another guide, or a select. Hopefully sorted with the Zillertal guide though, James is earning some wad points and hopefully picking me up a copy from leeds this weekend.

 :great:

I didn't really rate the select but the other I have (black cover) is a great guide with lots of in depth interviews with climbers. It cost me ~42E back in ~2008 which puts it on the expensive side!

Never follow a local into the Ginzling tunnel on a red light with ~15 min on the clock.

Agreed. It's pretty much the only Eurotopo I know that approaches the quirky labour-of-love character of Ground Up's Llanberis Slate.

Or maybe Toni Lamprecht's Kochel book too, to a lesser degree.

Not sure if PM's are working via my phone but I've got the guide from the depot. Let me know your address and I'll post it over today/tomorrow :)

It seems Cordee (the main stockist/publisher) is out of stock too so they much be due a reprint soon perhaps?

Not sure where you're based. I have one in Newcastle you can borrow.
