Title: Printers
Post by: Bubba on May 27, 2008, 07:56:59 pm

I will actually have a few hours in the daytime when i'm not in bed this week  :boohoo:

So i'll try to get in touch with some printers.

Anyone got any personal recommendations

I guess the criteria are:
- cheap
- good quality
- allow small production runs on different shape/sized blanks
- erm, dunno

You could try the place Crabstix (he who made Winter Sessions) works for.
Shirt Prints Direct
(0114) 255 9000161-165 London Road

Sheffield S2 4LH

All the t-shirts I've had from there have been well printed. And being a climber he may make a special effort on these ones....

The guy who does the Five Finger Thing stuff for the Works has his own t-shirt printer I believe. Check with Sam W.

I'll probably collect orders first before getting them printed, but looking at the poll results around 50. Graeme has said he can put some in the climbing works too...

Those are the people who were very helpful when I needed "CRAIG IS GAY" printing in massive letters across an 8ft by 6 England flag at short notice for the World Cup two years ago. They did a great, swift and inexpensive job.

I was going to Munich to see a World Cup game and wanted to take the piss out of a mate of mine, called Craig. It's a very long running joke and this would kind have been the ultimate conclusion to it. Unfortunately the draconian Bavarian stewards at the game wouldn't let me hang the flag up in the area that we were seated in (as regulations only allowed flags of that size in certain areas of the ground apparently) so I didn't manage to get it on tv. Bastards.

Think I'm going to use these people - they've been very helpful and costs seem pretty reasonable. Shirt Print Direct's email address doesn't work so can't be bothered.

I'm just rebuilding the shopping cart so i can take orders now, and have spent the last few days bringing the forum software back up to date and adding new features.

What's the final design?
Title: Re: Printers
Post by: Bubba on June 29, 2008, 06:56:20 pm

Based on the vote, the two most popular were "Crest" and "Anyone for Danny's" so those two definitely and some "Spotter" ones like the one on  the front page, just coz I love the design :)

Wonder if it's the same Craig  :-\

So um.......... these t-shirts......... they gonna be ready soon? What were the agreed designs again?

Yeah, they're getting there. Any spare time recently has been upgrading the server and getting the forums to run better.

I've also installed and am setting up a completely new shop - take a look here and you can see some basic images of the designs. I need to re-do them to show front/back and also am trying to make a large version of the "dannys" shirt. Because the original uses quite small images it's tricky to convert it to a printable size.

cool, when will the shop be up and running?
i'm thinking of the crest and spotter tee's for my birthday or christmas presents.

will you be doing them in size small coz i'm only a wee nipper?

what does the anyone for dannys tee have to do with ukb?

Anyone for Danny's is a ukb joke :) It may involve Dense and the size of his heed.

Hopefully up and running very soon. Once the designs are prepared for printing, the printer can print onto any size and style (eg mens/womens) and presumably hoodies, etc if required.

The only thing holding me back is working all hours of the day and night piloting a large lump of metal. When you only have three or four hours leisure time per day in the week, it's sometimes hard to get psyched for doing web-development  :boohoo:

So is the 'wwgd' not getting printed?
Title: Re: Printers
Post by: Bubba on October 31, 2008, 01:45:34 pm

Can't do them all (at least not at first) and that one didn't get many votes.

There is a setup cost associated with each shirt. If one is only going to sell a few items it's not really worth doing, if one is going to sell say more than 10 (not an exact figure coz it depends on amount of colours, etc)  then it is.

For a minute I thought you were setting the UKB shop (http://ukbouldering.com/board/index.php/topic,9278.msg178426.html#msg178426) up to sell t-shirts to dead romans Bubba....

But it turns out its just nonsense extracts from a larger piece of text (http://) commonly used in print/design layout...

Quote from: translation
Nor again is there anyone who loves or pursues or desires to obtain pain of itself, because it is pain, but because occasionally circumstances occur in which toil and pain can procure him some great pleasure. To take a trivial example, which of us ever undertakes laborious physical exercise, except to obtain some advantage from it? But who has any right to find fault with a man who chooses to enjoy a pleasure that has no annoying consequences, or one who avoids a pain that produces no resultant pleasure?

How's the shop coming along?  It certainly looks ok, how long till its up and running?

:) Recent new release of the shop software destroyed the old text. I've had some big problems with the software but it's more down to the usual probs of no time due to pre-xmas working like a dog.

I've also been putting a bit of time into a completely different web project that might make some good money.

Cheers Dylan - that's the company I'm going to use anyway :)
