Good trailer guys :)

shame that due to a scheduling faux-pas, cliffhanger will probably be deserted.....

So is this year's event limited to riding kid's bikes and jumping over things?!
-
Not much about cliffs and hanging then.
I must admit that while I appreciate its probably a really good day out for a lot of people and (hopefully) brings money into the local economy etc etc there's something about "an outdoor event for outdoor people" that just doesn't sit right with me.
I may well just be old fashioned, but it seems to fly in the face of why we do things like go climbing/mountain biking/running in the country to spend a day in a park rather than actually out there doing what we like to do.
-
I think its more of an "outdoor event for non outdoor people who knock about the park with an ice cream on a sunday".

I understand there'll be a stall selling cliff thorburn themed coathangers.

Good idea :)
Why limit it just to the mustachioed master ?
We could have Cliff Richard and er.......other famous Cliffs in there

Well I'm biased cos I'm exhibiting, but the centrepiece is a big bouldering competition in a tent, which is a lot more outdoor than most bouldering comps. Plus lots of climbing and mountain bike shops with clearance stock, and lectures/ films which you'd normally have to pay more than a fiver to see.
So if you're a 'real' climber its a good chance to socialise and pick up a bargain, if you're not its a good way to get into it. Plus, if last year's show is anything to go by, there are some fucking stunning photographs on sale in the Showroom tent.

I was gonna head down, though thats mainly because I can't go biking or climbing because of injury. Can't decide between Saturday or Sunday, though as Sunday has the senior BBC it'll probably win.

"Cliff Thorburn is not primarily an actor, he's a snooker player, ex-snooker player!"
"Yeah, but Cliff Thorburn's not currently under a cow..."

What about Skymasters or the Outdoor Show at the NEC? What about indoor climbing walls? What about ShAFF and other moutaineering festivals; purely for the armchair climber and walter mitty punter no doubt.
What about guides, manufactured gear, blatant commercialism if you ask me. I think all real climbers should stick to climbing with home made kit and never ever buy anything which makes the vendor a profit.
I expect Cliffhanger to be a real success and Matt mine's a pint ;)
