Really? I'd love to see them play live again. Its a criminal waste of talent having Reni and John not playing for the last ten years.

I have mixed feelings. I saw Ian Brown at Platt Fields last year and he was brilliant, much, much better than expected and totally at ease with his music and performance. I also saw The Seahorses several years ago, again excellent and The Stone Roses before that who were of course fantastic but very much a product of their time (I was 19  :???:).   I must to leaning toward John Squire's opinion of letting sleeping dogs lie but on the other hand what a great night it would be.  :devangel:

(By contrast and totally nostalgic, I bought tickets to see Adam Ant in June who has not only got on the straight and narrow but is also kicking critics heads in playing a selection of pre-Kings of the Wild Frontier tunes from Dirk Wears White Sox and the early singles.   :punk:)

Well, I was being flippant but I also have to admit that I never rated them. If Reni and John wanted to do something over the last ten years who was stopping them? What would a reunion add? Plus, I was at Spike Island (get me!).

"Show me the mountain and I will climb it"  Mani

"We'll ride it until the wheels fall off" Ian Brown

As much as I have waited/prayed for this day for many years, now it has actually come around, the potential for it to be a massive disappointment has overpowered my will to try and get tickets. I hope (especially for everyone who has got tickets) that the Ian that turns up is not the one I saw 3 years ago. To say it was bad, would be a huge understatement.

I bet thousands are think that, but I'm willing to take that risk. It was always John Squire I was obsessed with anyway.

Last time I saw them Ian's voice wasn't the best I've seen him do but the band transcended that. With Reni too its got the potential to go to another level. And yet Reni's was one of the few gigs I've walked out of it was so shit. The magic has always been in the mix, and its not something that can be consistently delivered. Even if they're all over the place, I'm 100% sure there will still be moments of genius that eclipse everything. If you want to see a consistent and reliable band I'd suggest Coldplay.

Does hospitality at a Stone Roses gig seem intrinsically wrong? Given all the variables I decided not to enter the fray and hope they do some gigs a bit closer to us.

Did you miss the point completely here, where did I suggest I wanted something 'consistent and reliable'?

I am a huge fan of the creative spontaneity, unpredictability and intrigue of the Roses, however I am not a fan of the tombola that is Ian Brown's vocal performance. Yes the genius of John and Reni may mask it in parts, but if you haven't seen Ian Brown live since the day heady days of the Roses, you may be in for a shock.

Hopefully he'll prove me and many others wrong, because if so I'll eat my own words.

Me and one of my mates were both on all three of the official ticket sites and didn't manage to get any tickets for any of the days. Hopefully with the demand there are going to be a good number of uk gigs. I always thought that IBs vocals were the variable in the roses mix. As long as squires is on form I don't really think the vocals matter. (Not that I'll be seeing it at this rate)

Four times, maybe five if you count the last one where he got dragged off stage and cancelled? No problems with his voice at any of them. In fact the Roses gig probably had the worst vocals of the lot, not that it mattered.

I hear Michael Bolton never does a bad gig, maybe an option?

Squire told 6music they had new material but wouldn't be playing anything live until it had been recorded. I'm hoping that in the meantime they start playing a bit more of the Second Coming stuff. Best live performance I've ever seen was them doing Tears in Sheffield in '95, be nice to see it again but with Reni...

Finally got to see them. To be honest Ian Brown is struggling with the vocals in places these days (he was never that great let's be honest), but the rest of the band were on fine form. Primal Scream were good value as support too.

Rumoured to be last gig ever, so stoked I was there.
