I was looking for weather forcasts for Llandudno and found this:
http://www.llandudno-weather.co.uk/ (http://www.llandudno-weather.co.uk/)
It's a webcam that faces the Great Orme, pretty handy for up to the minute weather check and better than having to speak to Doylo.....................unless he's actually at the crag of course.
It even tells you the current Temp and humidity too. Ideal.
There must be others out there..?
-
And for Porth Ysgo:

Good find. Nice one.

I use this one at Wetherby race course for Almscliff...

No more guess work, eh? (not that I ever got it wrong ) Loving the history section too.

Looking beautiful today on the old webcam

Posted this in another thread (http://ukbouldering.com/board/index.php/topic,12905.msg227445.html#msg227445), but shall include it here 'cause it might be useful.
UK webcams (http://www.ukwebcameras.co.uk/)
You can also use Google to search for CCTV cameras connected to the net (http://www.i-hacked.com/content/view/81/42/) watch them, and even control some of them. Pretty 8) eh?

Live weather data from near buxton with links to local webcams, good for Staffs grit conditions.

As is this one looking from Bangor:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/wales/northwest/sites/webcams//pages/bangor.shtml (http://www.bbc.co.uk/wales/northwest/sites/webcams//pages/bangor.shtml)
Between these two cams you should be able to confirm that it is indeed pissing down in the pass.

Here's one for Llanberis, or specifically Vivian Quarry, you can see if there's a queue on the Dervish from 'ere...

Some big freeze stills from the Flashbar/Traveller's Rest webcam on the road between Buxton and the Roaches. Best and most useful webacm in the peak.

Done, see the here (http://ukbouldering.com/wiki/index.php/Useful_WebCams).
Be useful to promoting UKB as a resource to have this sort of information organised into the Wiki which is far easier to navigate for such information than the forums, so if you've a camera to add please consider adding it to this Wiki page too.
Now, to mirror the plethora of topos on the Wiki from the Vimeo group!
-
If you are doing, be aware that I haven't swapped the Stoney/ Minus Ten guide for the updated version as yet.
Is there an option to store topos etc on UKB/the Wiki? I ask because Vimeo storage sizes are becoming more limited nowadays and things like the Brownstones guide are quite big

Yeah, clocked that (http://ukbouldering.com/board/index.php/topic,11840.msg246783.html#msg246783).

I guess there is as its a MediaWiki installation (that used by Wikipedia) and you can upload images at least to that, although the button selection for editing is rather more limited than Wikipedia's implementation, need to go and read the MediaWiki docs (local help files don't appear to be installed).

Not at the mo - unless the sun is setting in the east today.
-
We headed over there today on the basis of Jim's analysis of that picture. Genius.

still climbing on dry rock tho. beats plastic any day

Very true, and in many ways conditions were better than if it had been sunny, except for being fucking freezing.

Nice one, have added it to the Wiki (http://ukbouldering.com/wiki/index.php/Useful_WebCams).
-
I just spent five minutes searching the wiki and concluded you'd never got round to listing webcams. Am I retarded?
-
Nope, when Bubba started the wiki there were two sections, Bouldering FAQ and UKBouldering FAQ. I opted to list the webcam page under the former the reasoning being people would be looking at it if they were asking the question "Whats the weather like for bouldering in area XXX".
Various pages have been added since then. Perhaps they could be more prominent, but at present pages aren't being organised in any structured way in part because a) no one person has taken responsibility with a clear overview of how it should be organised; b) different people writing the pages have different ideas of where things should go.
I think some idea of what the Insect Overlords wish the wiki to become is needed. I started writing the Venues (http://ukbouldering.com/wiki/index.php/Venues) section and created templates for various countries/areas but they're waiting to be filled in.
Of course you could have used the little box in the top right that has a button next to it labelled Search (http://ukbouldering.com/wiki/index.php?search=web+cams&ns0=1&title=Special%3ASearch&fulltext=Search&fulltext=Search) and you'd have found it.

More Lleyn web cams this time in Abersoch, nice clear cams clearly showing if it's raining and if the roads are dry and therefore maybe the rock??...click on the cam selection top right..

why did I just watch that?
Pretty concerned for Archie now

Seems yr.no (http://yr.no) which I like as a weather forecasting site, especially since metcheck is always crashing/broken, as well as giving you a forecast for anywhere including a rain radar on the same page also finds, if possible some local webcams from webcams.travel (http://webcams.travel) another useful looking site.
-
I really like yr.no. Even recognises names of some mountains, small towns, ski areas etc.
-
yr.no looks pretty and it's awesome that it recognises little village names etc. but I've had some really shit forecasts off there recently, especially when I was up in the Torridon. It was often at odds with the BBC and the Met office, and on some occasions at odds with what was going on outside!
-
Its just a computer in Norway, same problems as Metcheck etc. I agree it looks nice, though that's not top of the list for forecasts. MWIS every time for scotland.
-
I really like MWIS, but find it sometimes paints a bit too broad a picture based on areas, and often errs on the side of caution when it comes to wind. Also it's obviously only for mountain areas.
-
Just stumbled across Harrogate, Leyburn, Settle and a few more Yorkshire road cameras.

not sure how often it will be updated, but it would be good if people added their own notes.

nice of webcams for the Peak District.
Be warned, although some of them update on the page some you need to click through to the source.

I just added it to the Wiki, but i have a nagging suspicion Slackers beat me to it!
Ach! by seconds
-
Most are actually already listed on the UKB Wiki page anyway (I reckon they based their list on it :) ).
-
Just added a few for Lancs. Should be useful for Thorn Crag, Limestone areas, Crag Stones, Longridge and crags near Preston. Would be good to find some for other areas - Bolton Quarries, Rossendale Moors etc.

Looks neater if you embed them as...

-
Ah, I actually thought it looked neater the way I did it - makes the location easier to read, it's a pain scanning through lots of blue links. Don't mind either way though.
Just added one for Haworth, West Yorkshire. Should be useful for Earl Crag and Widdop area.
-
Sorry, just had another look. Yes, the embedding way is neater.
-
And another for Burnsall, good for Rylstone/Simon's Seat area.
-
There's also one at Skyreholme, lookinmg directly at Simon's Seat. I'll add it.
-
Added a Lake District section, and a few for South Wales.

good suggestions :great:

From Nai - good for the roaches etc...

https://www.bing.com/maps
Bing maps now has traffic cameras embedded in the traffic layer, you need to turn on traffic and then zoom into the roads where little icons are shown. These cameras can often be useful for North Wales limestone with cameras on the A55, also useful for blackstone/woodhouse with cameras on the M62, also anston/mag lime with the cameras on the M1, finally cameras on the M6 can be used for thorn.
Unfortunately there isn't an app and the desktop site on a mobile is unusable. You can however access the same camera feeds in the highways england and traffic wales apps. These are a pain though as the information isn't shown on a map and you have to know which road/junction you want to look at.
